Homemaker workers were always cheerful, hard working and determined to carry out each stage of the work properly with an eye for detail. There was no bad language or arguments and the music volume was kept at a reasonable level. We are delighted.

Excellent job, although we had 2 periods of snow, high winds and driving rain, Sean and team remained cheerful and the job continued! Building onto the first storey meant that the roof had to be removed from half of the house, but we remained dry throughout which was testament to Sean's ability to keep the house watertight at all times. He kept us fully informed and each morning would discuss the work that would occur that day. He arrived promptly at 8am every morning and was happy to be on-call throughout the build. Any problems that they encountered were brought to our attention and resolved. Sean has assembled an excellent team that cover all aspects of the build. Sean remained within budget for the job and no large payments were required up front, as work progressed payments went alongside. The end product is excellent and we are thrilled with our new home! We would recommend Sean highly and without reservation. Thanks Sean!

Work was done over a period of about three and a half months, first outside and then inside the house. It was divided into several distinct sections with short breaks in between. Because the house is old, jobs often turned out to be more complicated after they had been started, but the builders coped efficiently with this, made constructive and thoughtful suggestions about how to tackle problems, and always kept us completely informed about what they were doing, why and when. Having used several different firms over a period of twenty years in this house, I consider that A. J. Homemaker is by far the best of these and would recommend them highly and without reservations.

The work is currently in the final stages and I would like to recommend A J Homemaker for any building work you are considering. I had a very bad experience with builders in London and Mr James made very effort to ensure that I was completely informed and happy at every turn. ~ There is not much we have not had to cope with: rewiring, replumbing, creation of two new bathrooms, extension to house and annex, creation of utility room, a complete redesign of the bedrooms, replacement windows and doors, refurbishment of the bay windows and new doors, floors, architrave and skirting boards. If I decide to go for the loft conversion, A J Homemaker will definitely get the job.

I feel that the trader was unreliable, had poor communication and poor work quality. I felt that the job took much longer than planned. In my opinion the company had poor communication going 2 weeks without making contact. The builder did not supervise or check work done.

In January 2011 The previous arranged appointment with the contract manager, was cancelled. Instead the customer sent a letter informing our company that she no longer wanted us to continue with the work. We then sent the customer a recorded letter stating that we would like to be given the opportunity to correct the items on the snagging list, and then receive final payment. Following our letter the customer agreed for the contract manager to carry out completion of the work, upon which I purchased a box of tiles (only needing 1), 6ft of architrave, and a new window board seal, I also ordered the worktop tiles. The day before carrying out the work the customer phoned me and cancelled, I asked her why she did not want me to complete the work; she did not give an explanation. I gave the customer all of the materials that I had purchased and we will not request full payment as we could not complete the snagging list.

When I moved into my house at the end of February, little did I know that every inch of it was going to be changed! It turned into a huge project and it has been dealt with superbly by Sean and his team. Although I am in situ, they have made very effort to see that I am as comfortable as possible. I have a great relationship with them all. The money flow has been easy to cope with and is in appropriate chunks in line with the work. There is still the extension to be built and AJ Homemaker helped here too as I used their architect to draw up plans and he also submitted the planning applications. So it has been painless so far. I have no reservations in highly recommending this company to carry out the highest level of work in a happy and efficient way.

This work is ongoing - nearing completion. I can't recommend Sean and his team highly enough. They do a brilliant job, always give good advice, steering us away from dumb decisions and ensuring that the work is carried out according to building regulations. Sean has also done all of the decorating throughout the refurbished house. I call him the Mozart of decorators. Best of all is the great sense of humour - a highly valued addition when you are living through major upheaval in your home!

Work on garden office was started in June 2008 and finished in October 2008. The loft conversion and all other work was started May 1 2009 and is on-going. Hopeful of completion by mid-December 2009. Sean and his team are thoroughly professional, upfront, honest and hard-working. Progress can seem a bit slow at times but the quality of the work is never in doubt. They are always good humoured and ready with plenty of light-hearted banter to counter any problems or set-backs. We have continued to receive impartial and sensible advice from Sean who has immense experience and we trust him in this vital area. They are a pleasure to have around and I can recommend Sean and the Homemaker team without reservation.

I contracted Sean and his team to build our Hassocks loft conversion in 1994 and had no complaints during the work as they were efficient, tidy and trustworthy. Its been 14 years since it was built and have had no problems since. I have no hesitation in recommending these guys.

When I discovered cracks in lintel and gable end above the window the firm called the next day to investigate and quote and due to urgency they completed the work within 10 days despite being busy.
