The project took about 7 weeks, including a new kitchen, new bathroom, converting the en-suite shower into a utility room, with electrical and plumbing work and redecorating throughout. Russell Mills managed the whole project with incredible drive and energy. Whenever he contacted me with an unexpected "problem" he already had a solution, nothing was too much to the team, they were always cheerful and courteous. I came to trusting Russell's advice and judgment implicitly and to relying upon him totally. He seems to run a tight ship and the members of his team seem to respect him a lot! I could not have wished for a better project manager and shall be grateful for a very long time! Can't wait to finally move in!!

Further work was needed to repair plasterwork and to skim ceiling. The ceiling plasterwork was very well done, and the whole finish of good quality. We picked Alan (from three very similar quotes received) as when visiting to quote for the job, he gave better customer service and seemed very competent. From the time the quote was accepted, Alan fitted our job in amongst his other already planned jobs very quickly, and he kept visiting most days until the job was completed. He and his decorator were quick and thorough. We are so pleased with the end result, and he offered to help fill gaps and make badly fitted bits better i.E. Skirting. The finish is great and he/they did a great job. We have young children, and they were very mindful of our comings and goings within the house whilst they were there. They tidied/cleaned up extremely well after themselves each time they visited which meant it was one less thing for me to deal with (during the School holidays!). Alan was great with the children (older ones to make cups of tea and getting the toddler to help with the dust-sheets etc). Alan likes a chat and he was good company. Tea, white with two sugars :-) I'll be recommending Alan to my friends. Just book him, you can't go wrong.

The work done by Mills and Sons was of a high quality. They have a great can do attitude, are courteous and helpful. An example: the size of the sink I purchased turned out to be too big for the bathroom. They could have fitted this, there was the physical space, it's just it would have looked wrong as it overhung the bath. Russell took the time to phone me and explain this, and then was flexible enough to not delay the other work whilst a new sink was purchased. I would recommend Mills and Sons to anybody.

Stripped old wallpaper, and took off old skirting in all rooms. Took up old carpet. Plastered all rooms, walls and ceilings (repairing where plaster was in bad condition). Rubbed down and painted all walls and ceilings (constantly checking and filling any imperfections) and fitted new coving where needed. Fitted new skirting then rubbed down and painted all woodwork. Fitted new doors and handles in whole house. Dug out concrete floor by patio doors and levelled off (this has been bugbear for the 25 years we have lived in the house). Fitted skirting and new window board in one bedroom. Not the cheapest quote in my opinion but glad we went with them because all work quoted for was done extremely well. Only downside was having to find our own plumber to replace a couple of radiators. However that aside would definitely use them again and would highly recommend them.

This was a large project involving every window, outside walls, soffits and fascias. To get access the men had to liase with my neighbours, remove and reinstall fences and use neighbours land.
I have used this company on other occasions which gave me the confidence to go ahead with this project. Security was a concern to me as every window had to be left ajar until dry but the men were brilliant in ensuring this was never an issue. Alan was away for the start of the project and he can be proud of how his workers are professional and diligent whether he is on site or not.

Let down by my previous carpenter and a bit worried about how to move forward, I contacted A Mills and Sons by finding an ad in the Yellow Pages online. Alan put my worries at ease. The very next day his son, Russell, came around and gave me a quote which I thought was very reasonable. Just a few days later he came round and cleared up the previous workers mess, hung my doors and fitted locks and handles. Included in this was two fire rated doors, a normal door, a door for under the stairs and two bi-fold doors for wardrobes. Two of the doors (a bi-fold and under the stairs) needed a third cut from the top and bottom. Russell did this and you would think the doors were bought like this.
My conclusion is; don't waste money on trying to save pennies here and there because it's costs more in the long run. Get A Mills and Sons out for a quote instead.
