Mark, Kevin's brother-in-law and joint Aerial Man, came early, was very helpful and polite. He improved some of the co-ax cabling, which helped greatly. He was then able to isolate the problem as being a dry joint in the newly-acquired PVR. As I had spent a considerable time myself in trying to ensure that the loft aerial was in as good a position as it could be, I was delighted to learn that the signal was as good as could be expected. Sadly, it also meant that the PVR will have to be returned. Thanks, Mark!
