Having worked in the gas industry for over 40 years, I decided to "go it alone" in June 2007, with plumbing and gas heating services, for the few years until retirement.  How I wish I had taken this step years ago - hindsight is a wonderful thing. My wife, Valerie, set up the admin side of things, and runs that (and me) with great efficiency and enthusiasm.  I keep telling her I will be retiring in a few years but she seems not to hear.... Checkatrade brings some of the nicest customers, and ones who seem more relaxed and assured they will get a good job for their money. 

We're often asked about our strap line (The Purrfect Choice) and logo of a cat.  We are devoted cat lovers

Power flush central heating system and fit magnetic separator

Alex arrived on time and spent from 9.00am until 3.00pm with us sorting out our heating system, and also fitting a magnetic separator to the system which he was asked to fit in addition to the original request. Both jobs were done with full explanations and also recommendations as to what were the best materials to use in future. We had used him before to service our boiler and were satisfied that we got good service at a competitive price. He is already booked to service our unit next year.

Bolier

Thank you so much for fixing my Boiler. My thoughts were the boiler 'glow worm' was broken and after one quote from another member on here a new one was to be instal. However when Alex and his wife came around he checked everything and it was the Gas mains switch that was turned off. They are a lovely couple and would highly recommend them. Even Gorden the cat liked them and he is fussy having bitten the previous gas man. If I had any problems in the future I would not hesitate to call them. I cant express how pleased I am I did not get ripped off.

New gas supply, new boiler and rads, new bathroom and more

A true pleasure to do business with. Originally we called Alex out to solve some air trapped in the central heating system but liked his work ethic and attitude so much we had him back a few more times to completely renovate the buildings water and heating systems. All work completed to schedule and within budgets. Everything works brilliantly and we couldn't recommend anyone over Alex. They even share their sandwiches with the cats at lunchtime. Alex and Valerie were also priceless with sorting out a feckless third party. Always on time, tidy and a first class job.

Fixed Boiler. Boiler kept cutting out for odd reason.

As luck wood have it, my boiler packed up on the easter bank holiday (saturday) in a tenanted property I let out. I went to checker trade to find someone to fix it. I looked around and chose someone with good feedback. They charged me £80 for the call out, came round, pocked about, talked about the fan, or this or that. Essentially they had no idea and it was quite clear. In the end after £80 they left (not to mention they tried to get my tenants to join some weird scheme that made us all feel uncomfortable) I was really annoyed, because I had just been ripped off by a cowboy on check a trade. I went back to checker trade (yeh I know), found Alex Deacon with his lovely wife Valery. I told them the story and they were out in less than an hour. Bearing in mind it was saturday! Charged no fee and within 2 minutes Alex had found the problem. He was able to get the boiler going to the delight of my tenants so they could have a shower over the weekend. I gave him a drink £10 although no fee was ever asked for. He came back First thing Tuesday (it was a bank holiday monday) with the new PCB board. He fitted it, stayed for over an hour providing excellent company, whilst listening to the boiler to make sure it was good. He then charged me £35 and he lived about half n hours drive away. What an absolute Gentleman and true workman. Knowledgable, polite and compassionate. As he left I was happy to offer him all the work for on going needs (Gas safety landlords cert etc) I can trust him, count on him, and his wife is lovely. Thanks Alex and Valerie for taking pity on my previous bad experience, you mad my weekend and that of my tenants. Anyone who has a problem with their boiler call Alex. Even if you live in Timbuktu ha ha im sure he would try to accommodate you, its in his nature :-) and his skills are second to none. Again this was all done over the easter bank holiday when he should have been walking his dog or helping his wife with...

Installation of shower cubicle in downstairs toilet

Both Valerie and Alex are extremely hard working and carried out the installation in a very proficient and professional manner. They had a very limited space in which to work which presented many challenges but they overcame them all and I am extremely satisfied with the standard of their work and the completed installation. I would highly recomend this Company.
