Thoughts of retirement at 65 vanished as work keeps coming in. After 45 years in the industry there is still something new and something different to deal with on a regular basis to keep me interested in the job. 

We are increasingly asked for bathroom and kitchen planning and fitting as well as new boiler/radiator installations, boiler services, breakdowns and general plumbing work.  We are still heavily involved (on a voluntary basis) with Cat & Rabbit Rescue of Sidlesham, ensuring their state of the art plumbing systems are all in order. 

Checkatrade is still bringing some lovely customers to us who know they are getting an accountable tradesman, good value for money and a quality job. If I can keep your old boiler working you will not be talked into having a new one.

Six years since 'going it alone' and I have never looked back. Valerie and I have made some very good friends through the business and we value the work that comes our way.

Radiator installation, plumbing in of kitchen, new cistern to wc and landlord gas safe certificates.
Alex and Valerie were exceptionally professional and competent. Their quality of workmanship was second to none and I would certainly recommend them. Alex excellent knowledge and experience and Valeries organisational and people skills make them an excellent team. Well done Alex and Valerie!

Repair broken kitchen sink mixer tap.
Came out 1 hour after calling on a Sunday afternoon. Said he would come at 230pm and arrived promptly as promised. Found neat solution keeping cost and time to the minimum for my problem. Friendly helpful service. I would use again.

4 washers fitted on bath room taps, 2 caps fitted on under sink pipes, 1 sink tap replaced, mira 415 shower mixer ordered and replaced
Washers, sink tap and pipe caps were fitted on 27.1.14. Repeat visit on 10.2.14 which was not announced. Mira 415 shower mixer was supplied and fixed in a rushed manner, it wobbled and white sealant was sticking all over and drips of in on bath. Broken bits of plastic left in plug-hole. Dirty wet foot print on new carpet by bathroom entrance. Twyford wash hand basin taps now indicate "hot" and "cold" upside down. Mira shower started dripping immediately on plumber's departure. Estimate for all jobs on the basis of 1/2 day's work. All together jobs took 2 1/2 hours, but still cost the same.

Response from Alex Deacon Plumbing and Heating:
We left two voicemail messages and then wrote to the customer asking her to contact us, to give us the opportunity to put things right. The customer wrote back saying she had employed another contractor to put things right. In a further letter to her it was explained that her written quotation was worked out in advance on the expected time for labour plus parts. It was also explained the estimated time for jobs is given is in half-days as an aid for the customer, and that if a job over-runs we do not charge extra. It is not common for jobs to need less than the estimated time in our experience. Rather than keep the customer waiting this job was done in two visits, the second part when the shower piece arrived with us. We have fully and sincerely apologised that on this occasion we did not give the customer service our reputation shows we usually do, and have refunded the cost of the other tradesman and the unused time.
