........I feel quite upset that this custoner feels the way she does. When I first met her we walked round the job and she told me what work was to be done. We had a good working relationship. After a couple of days of working on the job I noticed that the building work that had been done was not done to a very high standard. I tried to relay my concerns to the customer: it seemed to fall on deaf ears day after day. So I continued to do the job to the best of my abilities as I do with all my customers. . Unfortunately it appears that there had been no snagging list done: she paid the builders and let them walk away. I told the customer that there would be some extras and she asked me how much it would be and I said that I would do a list and how much cost would be involved. .....we decided she would pay me for the original quote for the job plus materials. We also agreed that we would discuss the extras when the job was complete and she agreed. I sent my colleague Peter to finish the front door and do some snagging of which I thought was of a very good standard as I had prepared the door for finishing. I would like to strongly deny any claims she has made about my working practices or tidiness/courtesy/reliability/quality of workmanship as she has contradicted herself in the letter when she said that the service she had received was very good. I feel this changed as soon as extra monies was mentioned. She failed to tell you that I also took carpets up in the hallway that had been mislaid and relaid them properly. I also painted two door bars and repainted skirting boards after a very poor job first time from some else whom she paid. She called him back to put his work right and he proceeded to damage finished skirting and oor frames and varnish splashed over walls - this I put right and never charged for. I feel very hard done by: my reports have always been of a high standard and this never drops. I hope this matter can be sorted out amicably.
