They phoned on first day saying they'd found something which made me think my house was about to fall down. In the end it took 1 day longer and cost 50% extra.

Response from BWT Southern Ltd:
We phoned customer on the first day to inform her that we removed the wall lining to the inside of the wall that was supporting the side of the house, to find that part of the inner leaf of brick work had been removed and that the brick work above was supported by a timber stud frame. Dampness over the years had caused decay to the timber, to an extent that a screw driver could be pushed through, therefore making the brick work above unsafe and in danger of collapse. We advised customer that it would take an extra day to remove these timbers and make the wall safe and that this would incur an additional cost which was not 50% of the original cost.We feel that the additional cost is fair for this additional work carried out.
