The workmen deserved 10/10 for quality but In my opinion feel that they might have been let down by the office who said that all vans are fully equipped for root damage which they are not. The specialised root cutting equipment was not on the van. Even so the workmen got us out of trouble and I thank them, but they could have done more work with the other equipment

Coastal drain carried a drain survey for me as a pre house purchase and as there major defects in the drain. I contacted Greggs and ask him to carry out the necessary works once exchange of contract had taken place. Mark the engineer carried out the work in a professional way. He was polite and courteous and the work was carried out in the stated time. I would recommend this firm.

The jetting through of the system was not complete. Their own DVD showed silt and cobwebs in the drains. They failed to identify the blockages in the rain water gullies and claimed drains needed patching or lining where no work was needed.

Response from Coastal Drains Ltd:
A survey was carried out at this property in July this year. The results showed root ingress, silt, debris, fractures and cracks. In the customer complaint, she points out that the DVD shows silt and cobwebs. Obviously the jetting works were carried out after the survey or we wouldn’t have known where the silt or debris was. Recommendations were made to repair the fractures and cracks. These can be seen clearly on the DVD. The root ingress should be removed and the pipe work repaired. We only make recommendations on the results seen on the DVD. It is up to the customer to decide whether to take advice from a drainage company and the evidence she can see for herself on the DVD or to take advice from her handyman. When trader attended he found screws to the manhole cover were rusted to the point they could not be undone. Customer offered the use of his drill to remove the bolts to avoid a return visit and possible further damage to the cover. I am not sure why the customer would be unhappy with that.

I phoned you up yesterday, desperate to find out if you could attend to my external drain which was blocked. You kindly told me that someone would call today at 9.00am, but your engineer called last evening about 9.00pm when I was out to see if he could fix the fault on the same evening. My friend had managed to clear the main drain, but the other drain was blocked. Having spoken to your engineer Paul that evening he advised me to use an old mop and pump it up and down and it would clear the blockage – which indeed it did. I would like to thank you for your prompt, efficient and courteous advice that you gave me and how constructive it was. I was also impressed at how efficient Paul was in coming out that evening as he wanted time the next morning to give his wife a lie in as it was Mothering Sunday – how thoughtful of him. I would not hesitate to recommend your company to anyone and would like to personally thank you for the service you offered, which was exemplary and saved me the call out charge but increased the Good Will of your Company.
