Poor quality workmanship when completing a new driveway. Constant flooding in heavy rain and stones-rocks protruding from uneven surface. We would not recommend this trader to anyone.

The client refused to pay for correct access to the drive as previously discussed in our estimate, and resulting in 300 tonnes of spoil having to be carted up to another area along the road. The client also requested far more work be carried out than outlined and estimated for, they expected the driveway far larger than marked and agreed in the estimate (two car widths at the brief, three on construction). Photo’s produced quickly and clearly illustrated this. The contract completed in difficult circumstances (the stone Quarry went into liquidation after 43 years) and the rain was constant. The client made a VAT error in his favour despite a written invoice and instead of correcting it, offered to pay it to my charity appeal. They are aware that when this matter is settled, as per our terms and conditions, snagging can be dealt with.
We are a highly professional company and please see our many other reviews for evidence of this.

In my opinion I felt that there was a lack of supervision by the trader and I found that he allowed the workmen to skive and not follow the agreed specification. I feel that this resulted in poor workmanship over all the areas of block work, gravel, paving, decking and lawn re-laying.

I would say that regrettably this contract, and in particular relations with this customer were strained throughout. We were surprised to find much of our progress hampered by major building work that had been scheduled at the same time without our knowledge, We had to move builders rubble several times before we could start. We carried out additional work at no extra charge to try to appease the customer. In respect of the skiving accusation, please see our many other positive comments, and bear in mind that on the day in question, the staff had arrived just prior to a morning tea break. They had in fact been collecting materials and removing rubbish prior to that for 2 hours without a break. Unfortunately, I can see how this would give the wrong impression to some. I would say that there was no problem with the customer paying promptly, a fact that does not appear to bear out the low score we have been given. Please see our other customers for recommendations and references.
