Fit Tank

We don't agree with having to fit a tank as all we needed was a thermostat and the price was much higher than the first quote. Had to get another plumber so as to use the shower.

I was called to the client by the electricians who were changing an immersion heater which had crossthreaded making the cylinder unusable. I was asked for a price to replace the combi cylinder. As that model has not been made for approx 20 years, I had to get it custom made, having contacted 3 manufacturers for quotes. I informed the client of the estimated cost and gave them the opportunity to get another quote, they accepted 2 days later. Work was completed and both immersions tested by cross wiring day and night supplies, left to reach temperature on off peak heater. Two or three days later informed no hot water, as heater was new and had been tested suspected wiring to off peak as it had shorted out before work started, asked client to get electricians to check wiring loading before checking anything else, heard nothing for a week. When informed about no hot water and shower not working after completion, called and checked immersion was OK, shower not working, no hot water, took their word it had worked beforehand, as it was the same age as the cylinder checked to find out if any parts available before taking apart or if replacement required. From clients comments, they had no hot water for some weeks before electricians arrived and then another two and a half weeks before replacement fitted, I was informed at 9.30 at night that they had to get another plumber to fix the shower which had scaled up. As they had not had hot water for some time, I could not see it had scaled up. They had not contacted the electrician who would have found the stat problem which I would have seen to - new stats sometimes fail after working a short time.
