Bob and his team were great and we would highly recommend them to anyone. Right from the start, Bob was friendly, approachable and helpful which is not what I can say for one of his local competitors. He came to our house free of charge at a time convenient for us to see what we wanted done and give us his advice which he followed up promptly with an estimate. When we were ready to proceed he ordered what was needed and we arranged a date for installation. He also advised us to remove the old fireplace facade ourselves if possible to save some money which he absolutely did not have to do. On the day of installation, everything was completed swiftly but thoroughly and they even vacuumed up after themselves which I wasn't expecting. Once again, we are very pleased with the work of this company and would recommend them without hesitation.

Met Bob at his shop and was very helpful and courteous. Made an initial home visit (free of charge) to measure opening and size of back hearth. Installation carried out without delay however we were left with a 3cm edge of cement across the back of the hearth, narrowing to 1.5cm to the sides, as it was too small. We were informed this was because the chamber wasn't square - we felt this could have been addressed if properly assessed, measured and squared off prior to installation. There was also a generally poor finish to the rendering inside the opening (note - was told by installer that he was not a plasterer at time of job but no mention of this before). We did raise these concerns, and Bob and Kevin did return to add extra render to reduce the cement gap. We have an acceptable finish although not quite the A1 job we were hoping for. Cannot fault the expertise in terms of fitting the stove, flue, chimney work etc however felt the overall finish let the job down.

We were happy with the quality of the work and the fitter Keith and his helper were polite, friendly and kept us informed about what they were doing. They arrived early on the first day without notice, which was OK but could have been difficult if I had been at work. We were less impressed with the store manager. On two occasions (on our initial visit to the shop and when he came to give us a quote for the work) he indicated verbally that when the old fireplace was removed his fitters would make good the plastering around the fireplace. This did not happen because the fitter was not a plasterer. After discussion with the store owner we paid a plasterer to do the necessary work. The written estimate did not mention the plaster work and we should have queried it, but we do feel that we were misled. Despite the fitter taking careful measurements when he removed the old fire, the back hearth he was given to install was too large. This meant he had to gorge into the newly plastered walls to make it fit. Once decorated it will look fine. The final invoice was more than the original estimate (even more if you include the plastering cost). This was partly due to the need for a new Chimney Pot. We were also charged for paint which we knew nothing about and the fitting cost increased with no explanation. All in all we are very pleased with the stove and it looks lovely.

We provide minor plastering/making good. Once the surround had been removed, extensive plastering was required and we are not skilled plasterers. The chamber/builders opening was never discussed. On our written estimate, we did not quote for plastering work. When we measured the builders opening, we were not expecting the chamber to be plastered. The back hearth was slightly to big due the chamber being plastered and thickness of the plaster. We were only able to carry out a chimney check on the day of installation, we needed to replace the pot as there wasn’t one there.

Bob gave more time than most firms when viewing the jobs in the first instance. The quote was detailed and the firm dealt with any amendments we wanted. Bob and a colleague were quick/efficient at fitting the stove and hearths. Only negatives were that the wrong fireplace was order, but the correct replacement was re-ordered promptly and the old (very heavy) fireplace, rubble was not removed as part of the quote.

Mr Tyler put the stove back together, after it was taken apart to make the fireplace bigger. He also painted in the inside of the fireplace (expanded area), which really tided it up. I'm very pleased with the results and that I can now use my woodburner.
