During the gale force winds my chimney cowl was blown off and my fear was it had caused damage to my roof a phone call to double d builders next day brought a promise to have someone there as soon as possible. True to there word as soon as the weather permitted they were up on my roof affecting a repair. With the run up to Christmas I felt this was a brilliant service they provided well done DD.

The work was carried out in such a way that it did not interrupt normal business of our busy yard, with additional concreting taking place late on a Friday afternoon so it set over a weekend. As a result of lack of drainage in 2 changing rooms, floors could not be cleaned thoroughly but Double D were able to find a workable solution by lowering the thresholds to adjacent showers and panelling in underneath seats. This proved successful in one changing room, and another was subsequently dealt with in a similar fashion. A pragmatic solution to an inherent problem. Floors can now be cleaned properly.

General work was good and the workers were polite and friendly. We felt there was some sloppiness in their attempt to stick to the contract and the job was well over(months) the agreed time. A small amount of electrics were not wired properly and I got an electric shock, they were not forth coming in mending the socket.

The outside skin of the cottage comprised brickwork panels with oak timbers between. Some of the oak timbers required replacing through age. Extreme care had to be used when removing areas of wall to protect the structure of the building – work was carried out in small sections. We also reconstructed the old well in the garden. Work began in September. As you are aware we experienced extremely severe cold weather in late autumn which continued over Christmas and into the New Year. This significantly affected works. The mention of the electrics relates to the cottage being a “mish mash” of different wiring. We found the customer difficult to deal with giving instructions to our men on site and sub contractors which made the situation worse. In the end in my opinion there are some clients whose expectations are, no matter how hard you try to please unrealistic and unreasonable.

Excellent service. I telephoned in the morning explaining my problem with very damp walls and Patrick arrived in the afternoon to assess the situation. The whole problem was sorted in less than 2 days and then one more visit to plaster the walls. A leaking underground pipe was the cause of the damp! Excellent! Double D replaced 7 external brick and render cills.  They recreated the original finish and appearance with the addition of stainless beads. Accurate to the quote and very quick and efficient.  Janette and Patrick are easy to deal with, replying by email quickly, their attention to answering the detailed questions is good. Double D added 4 x 4.8m strengthening beams, purloins and struts to a roof which had been recently surveyed and found to be lacking support.  The additional timbers were fitted well with the necessary supports being made only to load bearing walls.
