After purchasing our first home, we were concerned regarding suspected asbestos. I'm not a professional, but I'm pretty good at spotting it - and I wanted a pro to confirm my suspicions, and advise on how to handle the situation. Of all the contractors we made enquiries with, Dan was the first to take a genuine interest and take the time to explain how surveying and sampling works, before seeing pound signs. He was polite, timely, well presented, and willing to answer lots of my questions. It was also clear he was very clued-up technically. He gave us a good, non-hysterical assessment of the ACMs in place in our home, and advised on safe management - only taking a sample where he felt necessary to avoid superfluous costs. Other contractors wanted to charge four times as much for simply coming over the threshold. Dan was also able to come on a Saturday morning, which, as busy people, helped us a lot. There's a lot of ignorance regarding asbestos, especially found in forums online. I would recommend a visit from Dan if you are at all concerned, to get a definitive and balanced perspective for a reasonable price. Asbestos is an emotive subject - and so it's important to have the facts to determine the appropriate way to handle your ACMs.
