New Staircase

Julian sourced a new custom-built staircase (+ handrails) for our 1900s terraced house, to replace one that had become dangerously unsafe. He suggested several clever solutions to cope with the narrowness of the stair-well and space limitations, and negotiated with the building regulators to ensure that they were happy to sign off the replacement. Most importantly, he very kindly worked up until Christmas Eve to ensure that we weren't left without a staircase over the holiday period. We are very happy with the result.

New Water Main

Replaced an old lead water main with modern plastic main, including fitting insulation to sub-floor pipes. They were even happy to fit insulation to radiator pipes. Very pleased with the work and would strongly recommend.

Sewer Improvements

We had problems with our outside sewers -- they were not easily rod-able, and terrible-smelling foul air kept seeping up from the drain outside. Julian's solution was to add a gully to stop the smells and manhole for maintenance purposes, refilling with pea-shingle and concrete once the work was completed. Julian also liaised with Southampton Building Control to ensure that we had the necessary paperwork. We are very pleased the quality of Julian and Jamie's work and have recommend them to friends.

Removal of Chimney Stacks

The chimney breasts on the inside of our house had long since been removed, which had led to structural problems as the chimney stacks were left above the roof line. Julian removed the chimney stacks, and did an excellent job at waterproofing and rebuilding the roof to fill the void. He gave us a very competitive price, and we are very happy with the result.

Fitted 2 New Outside Doors

Cut down bricks to turn a window into an outside patio door, and replaced an existing single-glazed back door with a double glazed one. Excellent work, and very reasonable price.

Fitted Replacement RSJ (Steel Beam)

After moving in to a new house, we uncovered a serious structural problem -- two rooms had been knocked into one, but the supporting steel beam was inadequate. Julian guided us through the process of getting Party Wall consent from our neighbours and submitting a Building Notice, and getting calculations from a structural engineer. He oversaw the replacement of the beam, the addition of supporting columns at both ends, and the replacement of the lounge ceiling, which had been damaged by the structural problems. He was helpful and supportive throughout this very tricky job, and we would recommend him to others.

Renovation of room, new floor, walls, window, boxing in pipe work, new electrics, lights, sink and re-decoration to form new massage room.

Work can take longer than expected but very pleased with end result and quality. Would recommend.

New bathroom, bathroom window and partial wall rebuilt

Refurbishment and repairs to Chaplain's manse including fitting new UPVC over clad to facias and soffits; renewal of timber cladding to front elevation of house; renewal of floor tiles to ground floor cloakroom and installation of kitchen track lighting; installation of loft ladder and general exterior maintenance work.

Julian's work was professional and competitively priced. Some of the exterior work was executed with very limited access and Julian did an excellent job in extremely difficult circumstances. Nothing was too much trouble. We would have no hesitation in recommending him to future customers.
