Refit Kitchen units, fit new gas hob and repair bathroom and en-suite
James and Mark were extremely helpful, polite and punctual. The gas hob was fitted really well by Mark and it looks great. James fixed various bathroom issues (extractor fan - still needs to be wired into separate switch, bath plug, cistern flushing unit) and a number of kitchen problems (dishwasher door not aligned properly, other doors/drawers not in line, etc). All work done on time and within budget. Will use again.

Strip out old bathroom and replace and tile whole bathroom
I was very pleased with James' work and whole approach to the job. He was always very courteous and listened to how I wanted the finished bathroom to look. He and Jay were very keen to suggest ways of improving the design or saving money where appropriate. They always ensured that they had tidied up at the end of the day and were a pleasure to have in the house for two weeks. I am over the moon with the end result, and have asked James to now fit a new cloakroom and refit my kitchen! Praise in itself.

10 weeks re-furbishing two bed flat kitchen and bathroom
This trader refurbished our two bedroom flat and installed a new kitchen and bathroom. We had a new wool carpet throughout, which the contractor spilt gloss paint throughout hall way and are still trying to get this replaced five weeks later. I was under the impression that contractors have insurance for this situation I feel very disappointed, as the trader said he would sort this out.

In response to the customers comments, I feel that they are a little unfair. Unfortunately, paint was spilt on the customers carpet which I have apologised for. I have offered to pay the customer in installments due to personal problems but the customer has declined my offer. I have explained my position in this matter to my customer in the hope that they could understand my situation. My aim is for customer satisfaction at all times, I am still trying to sort this out with the customer.

Fitting of new gate and front door
This was the second time we have used J. Spence Building Services and once again very pleased with the workmanship. We had had a new front door delivered and this needed fitting, he didn't fit the number to the door as we had asked but he had explained that as it had a knocker he wasn't sure where to put it and was concerned that it wouldn't be seen from the road anyway. We were pleased with his decision as if it had been fitted in the wrong place this would have spoilt the new door. James also rang to advise that the gate posts were in need of repair before he could hang the gate. This he did and charged us accordingly which we didn't mind as we respect his judgement as we were not on site at the time.

Fitting of air vents around property due to damp
James gave a thorough explanation of the reasons why we were experiencing damp in the property. He suggested placing air vents around and this has solved the problem. The job was undertaken having had a quote, although they put in less air vents than was originally decided they were bigger and more effective. The work was carried out with the least of fuss and we would definitely recommend and use James again.
