Victorian skirting boards fitted using reclaimed original boards
Wayne is a tradition carpenter. A real treasure. He worked with enormous care and commitment to make sure the job was done to his exacting standards. He worked with difficult material i.e old original boards, which were warped and irregular but cut by hand and by eye, carefully scribing and metering. He is a rare craftsman and I will use him again without any hesitation.

General carpentry
The work involved making a decorative surround for a fireplace hearth, shaving down and re-hanging a door that was jammed shut, and altering a garden gate that wouldn't shut/lock properly. The jobs were professionally done and I was pleased with the results.

3 internal doors planed and re-hung

Replacement of damaged window frame and sill.
We have used him several times in the past for cupboards etc., this is just the latest job he has done for us. He is always reliable, professional and excellent value for money. He is always concerned to do a good job and leaves the area spotless. We would not hesitate to recommend him.

built a miniature bench forr a memorial garden
I asked Wayne if he could make a miniature bench for my late Sons memorial garden. Having sent him the estimated sizes, Wayne has produced a superb piece of furniture, which, if bigger, I would sit on myself. Completed in good time and of excellent quality. Would recommend to anyone wanted good workmanship.

Remove 29 book cases from a book shop in Eastbourne. Transport them and refit them into our book shop in Hove.
Yet again Wayne has completed a first rate job for our shop.  The job required him to remove existing book cases from walls (intact) ready for their recycling. He then refitted our new bookcases which he had previously removed from a book shop in Eastbourne.  City Books is a grade 2 listed building which means that neither walls nor floors are straight. This he took in his stride.  All 29 book cases look as if they were made just for our space. This was only achieved with his skills.  Previous to the refit we had discussed plans, he checked my measurements and calculations ( all book cases varied in size) so it would all go smoothly on the day/night. He worked antisocial hours to fit in with our opening times (or should I say closing times) to complete the work over a 10 day period.  As always unexpected jobs crop up during this type of work which he handled with ease and good positive humour. He worked so well as part of a team of 8 booksellers and him (over 10,000 books were moved during the refit) Feel free to come and visit the shop and inspect the fantastic results of his handy work.  He is planning our next project!
