If you have passed your driving test since January 1st 1997 then you will not be able to tow many types of trailer. I can train you to pass the test to tow these trailers.
Candidates for the class B (car) test since January 1st 1997 will only have category B and not B+E on their license. This means that they can only tow combinations of car and trailer up to 3.5 tons where the maximum authorised mass of the trailer is not more than the unladen weight of the car. In order to add that class of vehicle to their license they have to take the B+E test at a DSA LGV test centre. I can train them to pass that test with my vehicle and trailer, book the test for them and accompany them on the day of the test.
I have been giving lessons and courses on towing trailers with a B vehicle (B+E) alongside working as a driving instructor for learners and Pass Plus for ten years. This makes me one of the most experienced instructors in this area of driver training.
Each client is assessed individually and given the amount of training required rather than a pre-set period of training that may not be required. I provide the vehicle/trailer combination for training and taking the B+E test as well as having access to a tarmac reversing area to teach the reversing exercise of the test.
I offer courses in trailer towing and reversing for those who do not need to take the test. I also conduct trailer safety courses for employees of business customers as well as courses to prepare candidates for the test. I use the test centres at Lancing, Guildford, Gillingham and Hastings.
