I called to advise my cooker was not working after asking me several questions he advised that it was a simple solution to do with my timer and advised what to do and now my oven is working so to avoid a call out charge. Very unusual for a tradesman to be so honest and helpful without a payment a very nice man, had used him before as had saved his number onto my phone (glad I kept his details). Will recommend him to others. Thanks Mark!

I found MJH by Google. Had no recommendation other than the very positive comments left on the link to Checkatrade. It is a delight to find such a professional engineer! Explained clearly call-out charge (very reasonable) and any further potential costs. Very quick to pinpoint fault, ordered part and returned (at no extra labour cost) quickly to repair. Mark responded to my early morning call with an offer to arrive that day. He arrived within a couple of hours, came in, explained the labour charge and got on with the work. He was polite, friendly, informative and quick to identify the fault. Better still, he had the requisite part on his van and made the repair there and then. Mr Housego arrived as arranged and diagnosed the fault quickly. His experience meant that he had seen this type of fault before and rather than just replace the part he repaired it by soldering. He said that it should work but if not he would return and get the part. Since then the dishwasher has worked normally. Nice to see someone who can repair rather than just replace something these days!

He turned up right at the start of the timeslot quoted. The rate quoted was a fixed fee plus any parts (plus VAT). If he needed to order parts and come back, the first visit would only be the fixed fee and the second visit would only be the parts. At the start he described the possible scenarios that could be causing it (faulty instantaneous water heater or circuit board). In the end it turned out to be the circuit board. However, he also said (after checking the heater and finding it was OK, but before removing the circuit board) that often the relay on the circuit board developed a dry solder joint, and that could be fixed easily rather than ordering a new, expensive circuit board. This was exactly the problem, and fixed very quickly. I only had to pay the fixed fee plus VAT. He also provided some very helpful advice about an issue with our oven. I would definitely use again and recommend to others.

He was up-front about his charges (which were very reasonable) and explained what he was planning to do to fix the machine before he went ahead with any work that would take the cost above the flat call-out charge. Overall I was very impressed and would definately use him again and recommend him to others.

I phoned at 11.30 and he was here within 3 hours. He diagnosed the fault immediately and fixed it. The total bill was less than the call out charge for some other companies. I would have been stuck without the washing machine and it would not have been a happy Christmas. Thank you.
