Managing Director Gary Giles set up his first company (a partnership) in 1979 at the age of 22 while living in Croydon after training as a bricklayer and having also gained priceless experience in scaffolding, general building and hod-carrying.
Unfortunately, due to health problems in his young family, was forced to dissolve the partnership and re-locate to Wisborough Green in 1987 to be close to the establishment which specialised in the treatment for his son. Since then, he has built up an enviable reputation primarily as a bricklaying contractor while also accumulating experience as a general building contractor and housebuilder, gaining membership of the Federation of Master Builders (FMB) and with the National House Building Council (NHBC).
During these twenty-odd years, he has hand-picked a formidable team of extremely hard-working, quality-conscious, diligent & capable tradesmen (some of which served their apprenticeships “in house”) resulting in the formation of Newpound Building Services Limited with foreman & supervisor Robert Anderson as co-director in August, 2008.
Bob has been in the building trade since leaving school and, after training as a bricklayer in the Guildford area, quickly worked his way up to foreman, from which he went on to be a supervisor for a large sub-contractor before he, too, re-located to the Horsham area, in 1993, and decided on a fresh start. By chance, Gary had just begun the brickwork on two houses at the end of Bob’s road in Southwater – Bob asked for a start and since then, with his tremendous work ethic & wide knowledge acquired over the years, he has taken over the day-to-day running of the sites extremely efficiently.
Whilst still supplying bricklayers to main contractors, Newpound Building Services Ltd employs a nucleus of excellent tradesmen specialising in all aspects to create superb extensions and carry out structural alterations always taking meticulous care to match existing finishes – the biggest compliment received is “Oh, I thought that was part of the original house”.
NBS Ltd also build houses in traditional cottage style with tile-hung upper storeys that blend in discreetly with surrounding older houses.
