Niche Developments (Sussex) Ltd is a Worthing based building company. We work throughout Sussex and Surrey and cover all aspects of building.

We are happy to speak to you on the telephone or visit you to discuss your plans face to face. We will provide you with a no-obligation detailed written quotation for your works. We are professional, honest and helpful and if you chose to use us for your building work you will see that we are polite and tidy too.

Steve is our director. He is a builder with 18 years experience. In the past Steve has specialized in different areas such as double glazing, loft conversions and refurbishments and he brings all of his knowledge, skill and experience to Niche.
Steve is known for his inventive approach, and for finding a way around any problem that occurs during a project. His motto is “overcome and adapt” !

Sally is our company secretary. She is a qualified interior designer with experience working for prestigious estate agents and National developers as well as having successfully developed a number of her own properties over the last decade. Against this background she always has an eye on ensuring that the value of a property is uplifted by a project, and is happy to guide on design so as to best maximize value if this is a prime consideration.
Sally is available for project or interior design / consultation whether linked to or separate from a Niche quote for your building works.

Sally and Steve have been working together since meeting on a refurbishment project in 2005, and as well as having built extensions, loft and garage conversions, conservatories and carried out many refurb or re-fit projects they have also developed a number of properties themselves. They are passionate about property and would love to help you look after or improve yours.

Construct new pitched roof and removed interior walls.

Niche have just completed major alterations to the rear half of our bungalow. The work involved the construction of a new pitched roof, removal of a load bearing wall and extensive reconstruction of exterior brickwork. The whole project was carried out by Steve and his, well-motivated team, in an efficient and professional manner. While patient and flexible in their approach to every aspect of the job, the project started and finished as planned with a superb quality of workmanship. Steve is great at finding solutions to potentially tricky construction problems; you definitely get the feeling that he is on your side and will do his best for you. We’ve asked him to help us with the next phase of our project: removing a chimney breast in the master bedroom and constructing a new en-suite shower room. I’d recommend Steve without hesitation.

Loft conversion, New Roof and downstairs alterations

Steve and his team managed the entire job from plans and permitted development application to completion, even planning the layout of my kitchen and bathrooms. I now have a 2 storey chalet bungalow which is a home to my family of 4 instead of a small 2 bedroom bungalow. The finish of the work is impeccable from the windows to the bathrooms, kitchen units, door fittings etc. The downstairs alterations are seamless - my kitchen was knocked through into a bedroom as a through kitchen diner, and the steel is hidden in the ceiling so you can't even tell. Nothing was impossible or too much trouble, and as we were on a tight timescale to move in, Steve and the guys worked into the night for the last couple of weeks to get things ready, you can't ask for more really ! I would definitely use them again.

Double glazing now completed

We have had double glazing fitted throughout our home, including two French doors..  It is a detached two storey house, The work has been extensive, and technically difficult due to the age and poor condition of the house at the beginning. The windows now look fantastic, inside and out.  Niche went to great lengths to ensure that the result is something really special. The finished result is second to none, and has been remarked upon by neighbours and friends alike.  I would have no hesitation suggesting Niche, if asked to recommend a top class builder!!!

Replace lintels over door and window

The brick work over our door and windows was sagging and causing large cracks up the wall.  Niche repaired the ones that were less bad and replaced the lintels over the worst ones. A very good job with a neat finish which looks like new and will stop the walls deteriorating.  All was tidied up afterwards, and the broken bricks removed. I would recommend them without reservation.
