The 1st estimate was done in Jauary 2008. The customer never contacted me for five months, then she changed her mind and decided on a complete new kitchen design which required a new estimate complete with drawings. Then the customer required another wall to be taken down, which then required another estimate. When work finally commenced the customer produced me with a very large sheet of extra's, she asked me to carry out the work without asking for an estimate.

Installing a new shower and re-fitting bathroom
We received a written estimate. Work was completed but felt the shower did not have enough pressure. Paul then advised that we needed a pump fitted and he verbally quoted a price. He did not produce an estimate for 'extra' works carried out until the work was completed. The prices, we felt, were very high. We were not happy with the result as he did not finish off the tiling properly around the back of the toilet. When asked he did not produce any of the manufacturers guarantees for the shower or pump he said he guaranteed the parts. We paid cash for the 'extras' but he again refused to give us a receipt. He said he would post it. It never arrived. I found his attitude patronising, bordering on rude.

The work quoted consisted of a like for like replacement of a gravity shower valve, with no alteration to existing pipework, header tank or the addition of a pump and fitting of cubicle and tiles. The customer stated that gravity pressure would suffice when I recommended a pump during my initial survey. After the fitting, the customer commented that the pressure appeared low, so as a gesture of goodwill I offered and supplied a "good as new" pump. The customer expressed her satisfaction with the pressure after pump was installed. Great care was taken with tiling but the finished aesthetics were affected by the 45' angle of the existing soil pipe. Supply and fitting of a toilet was not in our original brief, if so a more suitable toilet would have been sourced that would have covered the unsightly pipe. The customer supplied DIY toilet leaving this area exposed after fitting. Extra works were instructed by the customer on a daily basis direct to my onsite staff. No estimates were requested and she expressed no disatisfaction to my final bill. I am disappointed that in my efforts to explain and solve the various issues encountered, that the customer has mistaken this as patronising. My intention as always is to ensure the customer is fully informed. My work as always is and remains fully guaranteed.
