The customer asked me to attend his caravan home, as he was unable to open the main door. The customer informed me it was not an emergency, as they would be using an alternative door. Arrangements were made for me to attend the following morning. I managed to open the door but after taking the mechanism and stripping it apart, I found broken parts in the unit, which the customer saw too. I advised that I did not have the exact part on board and would order it or I could take apart one of my new units and replace the broken parts.
I informed the customer I would honour a 12 month guarantee which I would normally only guarantee 3 months.
The customer watched me undertake the repairs, I tried it several time to ensure it worked correctly, the customer tried too.
I have tried contacting the customer, leaving an answerphone message, however he has not contacted me.
I did everything correctly to repair the door and went beyond what I should of by offering the extended guarantee. At the time the customer seemed very happy with the work. I have over 200 customer comments and this is my first negative feedback.
