Power and Communications aims to deliver a one-stop-shop to customers spanning Electrical, Internet and Telecommunications Solutions plus Services.
Whilst we do installation work we specialise in Fault Finding and Maintenance - its not just "another thing we do" its one of our key areas of competence. Working at heights is also an area of competence and we have either a ladder or machine license to get to anything you want us to work on. We are also used to working in difficult situations plus controlled environments - so if discipline and order are important to you then Power and Communications is a natural provider for your business.
With respect the work we have done, spanning installation, maintenance for electrical, telecom and internet services, our portfolio includes the following :
ELECTRICAL
- Fault finding - from attending to emergency faults with outcomes ranging from managing the fault through to emergency service restoration
- 3 Phase feeds – From 16A to 100A per phase e.g. for major cooling systems.
- Distribution board changeovers - three phase plus single phase.
- Earthing - we do a lot of earthing and bring substantial experience of rural installations.
- Load balancing – Looking at board loading plus physical aspects such as adjacent circuits, to even out the load across all 3 phases.
- Structured maintenance programmes – providing management with clear time bound and fully costed plans for preventative maintenance programmes e.g. Factory lighting management.
- Continuous improvement programmes – from web based fault reporting through to time bound costed auditable plans for preventative maintenance programmes through to programmes that reduce energy consumption plus extend maintenance periods.
INTERNET
- ISP changeovers - switching from one ISP to another.
- CAT5e installation - from individual through to multiple points.
- Upgrade DSL circuits installing multiple WLAN access cells.
- Liaison with Internet Security Specialists
- Sourcing specialist connections depending on the requirements for contention rate, speed symmetry etc
- CCNA certification is planned for 2010 so we'll be aiaming to offer a stronger set of services.
TELECOM
- Fault finding on telephone lines
- Fixing internal wiring
- Reconfigure wiring for a BT phone system - BT won't necessarily use your own wiring.
- Adding new extension points for phone, fax and sky
- Telecom shifts and changes – from planning and management through to implementation including ensuring that each staff member, as they arrive in their office following the changes, has network access, the phone they wanted, their number plus the agreed services they requested.
FULL SERVICE: We offer a full turnkey service from installation through to emergency call outs on electrical, telecom and internet solutions.

Emergency callout to restore electricity
I called this company at 9pm. My call was handled promptly and efficiently and within a short time the engineer called at my flat and duly restored power, making sure everything was safe. Quite apart from the friendly and professional way in which he conducted the repairs, the cost was extremely reasonable for out of hours work. I would not hesitate to recommend this company, and am very grateful for him coming out to my flat late at night.

Removal of old consumer unit and retrofitting with brand new unit
This work was carried out in a very professional manner, the engineer was very helpful in guiding us through the minefield of the 17th edition and fixed us up with workmanship of the highest order, if you are considering having electrical work done in your home, it would be time well spent discussing your electrical needs with Power and Communications.
