Checkatrade MD and Founder runs 100 Kilometers for charity
Over £4,700 raised to help 3yr old Erin Walk

Founder and MD of Checkatrade Mr Kevin Byrne completes a 100 Kilometers run and raises nearly £5,000 to help 3 year old Erin walk.

Erin Louise is 3 year old and has Diplegia Cerebral Palsy. In simple terms this means she cannot stand or walk without her walker. Everyday she needs physio to stop her leg muscles from ceasing up.
But there is an answer found in the USA that can greatly improve Erin’s quality of life, a procedure called Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy (SDR). The treatment has been available successfully for over 20 yrs at St Louis Children’s Hospital in Missouri by top Neurosurgeon Dr T.S Park. This life changing operation is scheduled for 21st September 2010 and Erin’s Mum and Dad have to find at least £40,000 to cover the cost.
Kevin Byrne, Founder and Managing Director of Checkatrade raised nearly £5,000 to help towards this massive cost by running 10 kilometres everyday for 10 days. A total of 100 kilometres.
A message from Kevin.
“I’m so fortunate that I have 4 daughters that are all healthy and beautiful. When I heard of Erin’s situation through Claire in my sales department I instantly knew I wanted to help. I trained for about 4 months for this 10K a day for 10 days and for me it was a massive commitment but well worth the effort to help Erin walk”.

Checkatrade helps combat the UK's rogue trader problem by continuously vetting and monitoring local traders such as builders, plumbers and electricians.
