Wayne (Checkatrade member) has been connected with Great Yarmouth College in Norfolk for a while and wanted to be able to connect the college & his industry in some way.
Wayne test's and reviews products, tools and materials with over 52 companies, runs his own succesful business and also writes for trade magazine and a home interior magazine and even finds time to be a Panel Member for Checkatrade.
After judging the Carter Awards earlier in the year with the help of Kevin Byrne, Wayne set about organising real support to help and inspire the new tradespeople of the future.
Presenting them with over £6500 of the very best tools, products and materials enables them to learn their craft with quality products. The Keir Building in Great Yarmouth is a fairly new multi million pound facility and Wayne organises manufacturers to go into the college and demonstrate their products.
Having won a host of awards, the most recent being Grand Winner Dulux Select Decorator of the Year 2011 to be able to give something back to the industry and community gives Wayne so much pleasure and he is helping the tradespeople of tomorrow.

Checkatrade helps combat the UK's rogue trader problem by continuously vetting and monitoring local traders such as builders, plumbers and electricians. The idea was born in 1998 after a tornado hit the small West Sussex town of Selsey. Traders poured in from as far away as Liverpool and Manchester. Unfortunately, some ripped off the inhabitants of the town. Local businessman, Kevin Byrne, realised there was nowhere to check out the traders’ credentials and the company that became Checkatrade was formed.
Since then, Checkatrade has grown to include over 6,300 genuine trade members, growing by an average 120 new members every month, and, via the Royal Mail, distributes 5.9 million directories a year into communities throughout Hampshire, Surrey, Sussex, Dorset and Berkshire, while the website includes traders from across the UK.
