I had two small leaks to be analysed and fixed. The plumber seemed rushed which led to one leak being diagnosed wrongly and the wrong parts being ordered. The return visit was just as rushed with the shower tap fitted upside down.

We have contacted the customer to discuss his concerns and comments. The customer purchased a filter tap to fit. This filter tap could only be fitted with the relevant taps to suit which are very expensive so the customer opted for just fitting a middle of the range tap therefore, the filter tap could not be used. With regards to the shower the handle it was not quite straight and so our engineer offered to return and straighten it. The customers answer was that he was not really bothered and happy to live with it. We were at the customers property for 4.5 hours in total and we feel that this is about the average time to carry out this kind of work.

Change a tap and replace a washer on another tap.

It took 4 hours to do the job and this was to put it back in the state he started from. He was supposed to change a tap. He disassembled the whole sink and then said he could not remove the tap due to rust which I think was Lime scale corrosion.

On the first visit to the client the engineer repaired a leak on the megaflow, the total cost for this was £113 plus VAT. On the second visit we attended to fit bath taps, the client also had a problem with the kitchen sink, we were advised this had been an on going problem and that the client had used another company who kept promising the customer would return to rectify the problem but never had. The engineer inspected and suggested we install an anti-syphon trap and an air admittance valve, which the customer agreed to, when the engineer tested afterwards, the opening valve created a hissing sound as air was being drawn into the pipe, the client was not happy with this and advised the engineer she would rather have the gurgling sound. The engineer advised the client that if we removed the parts she would still be charged, the client agreed and the engineer re-instated it as it previously was, the invoice was for £142.50 plus VAT, client agreed and the client signed. Please note that at no point did the client make any complaints or objections to the work or changes. This engineer is very competent.

They failed to turn up, we had to phone them & write to them about the problem. They sent the wrong workers, who didn't know what to do. I think we got the wrong advice about the boiler, changed the boiler just before condensation boilers came into force. We have had another plumber since. Don't want to see Putney Plumbers again.

We did have problems with this particular installation, which does happen sometimes. We were called back to the premises at least 6-8 times in the first year, each time we sent an engineer free of charge. We found the clients had been turning down the boiler thermostat which caused them to have no hot water. They seemed to have a problem dealing with the digital programmer even after being shown numerous times. Their problem seem to be the boiler would drop pressure and need to be topped up, this was happening too frequently, they were informed there may be a leak on the system or they were bleeding the raditors and not re-pressurising the system, the client was told we would not keep going back and the next visit would be chargeable. As fas as not being given the option of a condensing boiler, at the time these were still very new on the market and very expensive, the clients never mentioned they were interested in a condensing boiler. I must add the clients were extremely awkward with appointment times and they were only ever charged for the boiler installation and not for any additional visits.
