“I used this company to carry out two minor repairs (dripping tap and a shower door), both of which together did not constitute an hour's work yet they charged me for two hours labour because they had made two visits, fixing the shower door first and then the tap once they had got the part. At no stage was I advised that there was effectively a £70 call out charge or that they would charge the full hour rate for 5 minutes work. They claim that they always endeavour to point out the charges but did not do so in my case. I have raised the issue with the company but to no avail.”

Response from R & R Plumbing Contractors Ltd:
We have tried to explain our call out charges and that on the first visit our engineer dismantle and check over the taps to establish the correct cartridges required, he then fixed the shower door. Once he had left time was spent, checking with Howdens for the cartridges and then going on line to sauce the required items. The second visit was to install the cartridges. Although this visit may not have extended to an hour we still advise our clients that an hourly rate will be charged. We try and make this clear when talking on the telephone. We have apologised to the customer, but felt our charges was appropriate for the time spent for both visits. He was unhappy about this, unfortunately you win some and lose some, on this account we have lost.
