The work Ray carried out was to the highest standard and he paid extra special attention to detail. The end result is marvellous. He has completely transformed my old run down kitchen. His carpentry skills are excellent, as are his plastering and many other skills. I felt confident throughout the job. He methodically cleaned up as he went along. He arrived on time every day, and at the end completely cleared the site leaving no rubbish whatsoever. I cannot praise Ray highly enough. I took on board his helpful comments throughout, but he was also happy to provide exactly what I wanted. I would highly recommend Ray to friends and family. I would also want him back to do other jobs for me.

First time I've met Ray who was recommended by another tradesman. Very impressed with all aspects of his work and manor, prompt and friendly. Quoted by phone as I was able to explain what was needed. Ray gave a maximum including materials, the final bill was actually less. The standard of his work was impressive and he gave advice regarding another matter freely. Would highly recommend him and will certainly be calling on his expertise again in the future. Will also be recommending to family and friends without hesitation.

Ray came to the rescue! Huge leak occurred from bathroom through kitchen ceiling two days before Christmas. Called an emergency plumber who was next to useless and advised me to use a hammer to go through the celing and repair the leak myself. Called Ray who came round the next morning despite finishing for Xmas. He sorted the leak allowing my family to bathe over the holidays! Ray also provided a very reasonable quote which was accepted by my insurance company. Two weeks later, Ray had come in and repaired the ceiling which had considerable water damage, replaced all the ceiling insulation, and redecorated the entire kitchen to a much better standard than it was before. Very happy. I can't recommend Ray highly enough. He's always tidy, reasonable with his rates and goes that extra mile to sort out unexpected glitches. I have used him several times over the last couple of years and have never been disappointed (have also recommended to family who have also used him). I'll be in touch with him again!

Ray put in 2 sets of gallows brackets in loft. Took out chimney stacks through bedrooms and downstairs, and plastered wall. Lot of structural work made rooms bigger, great hard working team, over the moon with the work.

2nd time this year we've hired Ray, and certainly not the last. Earlier this year Ray undertook major work on our kitchen/garage etc. This time Ray completed the porch he had prepared (we were waiting on glasswork), redesigned our staircase (new oak banisters/spindles etc) and painted / decorated / made-good 4 bedrooms, 2 reception rooms and the entire hall/stairs. We left Ray to complete the work while we went on holiday, knowing from experience that we would return to the completed work with any needed finishing touches completed quickly. Our house is fast becoming the "house that Ray built!". I would happily recommend Ray for a broad range of building/decorating work.

The Builders: Working for 7 weeks, starting 3 days after we moved into a new house with our 2 young children, Ray and Steve (+ associates) have completed an A-Z management of a large remodelling of our kitchen/dining/utility/garage areas. Wherever we had any concerns/queries/changes etc, these were resolved immediately through constructive conversations and idea generation. Their ability to be flexible and professionally tackle a wide range of work enabled us to extend the work scope time-and-again as our confidence grew that we could have an idea, and they could successfully implement it. Importantly, at all stages, a costing was agreed up front and at no stage were these deviated from. In addition, they demonstrated a work ethic I had no idea you'd find with a builder - e.G. Being at the site at 7:30 every day and working solidly throughout the day, being ready and willing to go the extra mile, and put extra hours in if required - e.G. We twice had to call Ray back in the evening, and both times he arrived within 20 minutes and the problem was resolved and/or controlled ready to be fixed the next day. They were a pleasure to employ, and we have a series of further jobs lined up for which we will no-doubt be using their services again.

RB Builders – Ray; efficient, punctual, professional, courteous, conscientious, reliable and a very capable builder, who takes total pride in his work. Fully typed out quote, no pressure or chasing, took time to explain the work to be carried out, payment was only asked for after portions of work had been done (this was pre-agreed) and he was adamant that the work was finished before the final payment was paid. He made a couple of good suggestions for alternative ideas during the work which saved some blushes I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him – he done a first class job for a good price and was extremely pleasant to deal with, his quality of work is fantastic. The quality of the work carried out by R B Builders was very good and we are very happy with the finished product. The project involved the complete stripping out of the original bathroom and shower room including forming new walls and plastering and the installation of a new bathroom and showroom including tiling, fittings, painting and decorating etc. There were quite a few changes to the original layout, and Ray assisted us with his experience in coming up with the most economical and aesthetical solutions. I found Ray to be very approachable and adaptable to the changes. Ray is also very good at tidying up at the end of each days work. I would definitely use RB Builders again.

Ray of RB Builders was fantastic, from the moment we rang him to discuss the works, to his first visit and quote, he gave us simple explanations, suggestions on how to proceed with the works, and a quote for everything. I was confident he can do the job well from the other reviews and I wasn't wrong, Ray did the job as he said he would, did it well, and believe it or not, kept to the quote! Put simply, our last builders opened up our loft and took out some of the support structure, causing the roof to slip. Ray managed to re-create the original supports, and added extra ones for additional strength, but still left us sufficient space to allow us to utilise the loft for light storage. He also did a great job repainting our facia boards and put in new guttering at the front and back of the house ( as oppose putting in PVC one piece structures which don't look as nice) and re-pointed our chimney which was crumbling away rapidly. He said he needed one week to do everything, and he did! He tidied up after himself every day, the only indication of works at our house was the scaffolding outside, inside the house, you wouldn't know he's been! Totally trustworthy, I would recommend him to anyone looking on Checkatrade.

We’re delighted with the work Ray and his team have done for us. They’ve totally transformed our old kitchen and dining room to a very high standard in preparation for a new kitchen to be put in, including: removing a wall, carrying out extensive rewiring, putting up and insulating a new false ceiling and spotlights, boxing in for the extractor, boarding and plastering the entire room (which has meant a lovely finish), laying plywood on the floor, fitting new skirting, replacing windows and fitting glass into our back-door. The new kitchen diner has also been completely redecorated and the sash windows have been properly repaired and painted inside and out. Throughout the job Ray, Tony and Steve have all been wonderful - always on time, tidy, professional and friendly. We are very happy to reccommend RB Builders as Ray and Co. have done a top class job. In addition to complete bathroom renovation, building and fitting new ensuite shower room (partition wall built in main bedroom and stud wall within shower room to fit shower tray), Ray has done the following to our complete satisfaction: new spindles on staircase, changed doors / hinges around in bedrooms, re/plastered ceilings in bathroom, ensuite shower and hallway, replaced architraves, replaced 2 radiators, new laminate flooring in living room, painting and decorating (after a full rewire done by another company), extremely pleased with Ray’s tiling work done in both bathrooms. We appreciated Ray’s info / reccommendations (90% of the time followed...) re materials used or that were to be purchased - e.g. living room flooring; wooden fireplace surround (to varnish or not to varnish…); type of paint. Ray’s team is hard working, responding promptly to concerns / questions, nice to have around. Other jobs are now secured for Ray. P.S. We would highly recommend Ray. He redecorated several rooms in our house. Work included wallpaper stripping, plastering, wall papering, removing a fireplace, boxing in pipes, fitting a new loft hatch, and fitting a stop tap. All work was finished to a high standard. Ray is hard-working, tidy, trustworthy, professional, and friendly. We will definitely be using him again.

Ray replaced and re-plastered water damaged ceiling, painted the kitchen, fitted an extremely awkward Magnet designed kitchen, fixed/repaired all wiring and fitted new shower unit to an extremely high standard. No job was too difficult, advising on a surprisingly reasonable supplier of quartz/granite and repairing areas not within the original quote. Ray and Tony were clean courteous and extremely helpful. I have already lined up work for him with my family and will be asking him for additional work in the coming months.

Ray fitted new spindles on my decking area, built a new staircase, secured the decking and built storage cupboards under it. He also pressure cleaned the decking leaving it spotless. The decking feels so much more secure now and it looks brand new. As always, everything was done to the highest of standards and in record time. I wouldn't hire anyone else to work on my home.
