S M Plastering & Decorating are a small family company, working throughout all of Sussex. We undertake all aspects of Domestic, Commercial or Insurance based work. Specialising in renovations and encompassing all aspects of plastering and decorating, full interior and exterior decorating service available.
I myself have over 15 years experience and I am fully qualified in both trades having served a full 4 year plastering apprenticeship and a 2 year decorating apprenticeship.

Refurbishment of house including plastering all walls and ceilings
Sean and his team have done a great job refurbishing our new home. A 1930's semi in need of a complete overhaul including some structural work and the plastering of every wall and ceiling. From the initial quotation stage Sean offered good advice on where we could save money and where extra work we hadn't anticipated would be required. We requested some extra work during the project but Sean was still able to complete the work to schedule. I'd highly recommend SM Plastering and we'll be using them again for decorating the property.

Entire house re-plastered
SUPERB. Trustworthy, Perfectionist, Excellent Value. We hired Sean having received quotes from 5 different companies. We chose (Sean) SM Plastering as they offered practicable advice on what we needed to do to prepare the walls and ceilings for the very best finish. They also quoted on a per room basis, and accepted payment when each room was done. The house being plastered was an artex/asbestos nightmare. Thickly laid on, painted with vinyl paint, complete with blown plaster. The kitchen and bathroom has to be taken back to brick and completely rebonded, then skimmed. All ceilings were boarded over and re-plastered. We also tried to angle grind an old chimney off, that ran through two floors. We couldn't do it! Thankfully, Sean is also a skilled builder, so he did that for us. The walls were an uneven, sooty mess after but to look at them now you would assume the house was knocked down and rebuilt! Sean also worked at our pace, he can work very fast, completing whole rooms in one day flat but he was very decent about us DIY novices trying to do up a wreck of a house whilst both working full time. We ended up leaving him the keys, as he's ultra trustworthy and a very tidy worker. As he has a lot of building experience, we also were good a lot of good advice. We also hired him to widen a doorway into an arch, and I must admit it was a pleasure to see him with a spirit level at the end making sure it was totally perfect! I would not hesitate to hire Sean again, he's a very skilled hard worker and is ultra polite and professional. Happy to recommend him, and show anyone how my house has gone from a hovel to a show home. 10/10

Kitchen / Dining Room and Bathroom fit new ceilings, plaster ceilings and walls

Skimmed walls and ceiling of spare bedroom
We agreed a price and date for the work. Both were adhered to, I had calls to confirm how I wanted certain areas finished, and a call to say everything was completed. A good finish, on time and budget. Would definitely recommend.

2nd bedroom fully re-plastered including ceiling
I've used plasterers in the past and the amount of mess, dust and destruction they leave can be unreal! The gentlemen (Shaun) turned up on time and got to work straight away. The first thing he did was put down dust sheets. Very nice to see. The last guy I used destroyed my carpet and the underlay! Shaun got on with the job, and apart from offering him the odd cup of tea, I didn't really hear from him. I left him to it waiting to see the final result......and was I happy! The walls and ceiling looked lovely! Very minimal dust from the plaster, and what there was he cleared up too.
In the next couple of months I will be decorating my other bedroom and will definately use Shaun again. No mess, fantastic job and a nice guy. What more do you want!
