7 new windows + composite door
I got 2 quotes for new windows, 1 from a national company, a guy spent 3 hours in the house demonstrating products and scarring us with burglary stories then gave a quote which was astronomical, and I am still getting phone calls trying to sell. 2nd, a local company which advertises alot, again, hard sell, lots of phone calls offering to do a better deal than originally offered. For my 3rd quote I decided to use Check-a-trade to find the highest rated local company - that was Seyward. The guy turned up, measured the windows, got out his calculator and gave a quote within 15 minutes. Then said I must call if interested because I would not hear from the company otherwise - no hard sell, no discounts, no gimmicks. Quote £2,000 below the lowest of the others. Team turned up at 8am on the dot, had most of the old windows removed before I left for work 1/2 hour later. Great team of friendly people who were polite and hard-working all day. Windows a great improvement on the old ones, look great, noise reduction brilliant, and the door looks fantastic (several neighbours have commented - and asked who installed). They did a brilliant job of keeping the house clean (on a really wet day) and tidying up after. The only reason for dropping a mark for tidiness is for the outside, still finding bits of old window and broken glass outside, other than that - perfect! I was charged exactly the estimate. Overall a fantastic company to do business with in an industry which has a large number of companies with a bad reputation. I will not hesitate to invite them to do further work when replacing the rest of my windows/doors.
