Refurbishing And Renovating A Sash Window

  • I am the only professional I am aware of who gives the full and complete restoration of traditional Sash Windows in the Brighton area. One company - One job! Not three different trades trying to refer your window. I will explain! The Sashes can only be fully restored whilst the window is out of the frame. If they have already been fitted with draught excluders, the paint cannot be burnt off many of the areas. The new brushes are nylon also the parting beads are often plastic! These areas need to be burnt off before refitting. Trying to repair the window once it has been put back is very difficult and time consuming affecting the cost and quality of the job.

    New Sashes can be supplied and fitted but we endeavor to save your original window, which will also keep your costs down.

SHR Decorating: Sash Window Replacement, Repair and Renovation

  • Whilst the old window is taken out, the old paint must be removed, sanded and primed using a good flexible primer undercoat. This cannot be done when the window has already been fitted. Also the old paint can be taken off and primed on the frame and taken out loose, ugly putties and glass replaced. This method ensures that all off the mess is away from the house.
  • I have come across scenarios many times where the company being used has told people that they must have new sashes or sills because of rotten wood! This is questionable in many cases.
  • I use the "Wood Care" system that is used in all Dulux centers now!
  • This method ensures a permanent repair, which enables you to keep your original Sash window, which is seasoned wood. This greatly reduces your costs and maintains the original features of your property.

  • New sash windows are made of kiln-dried wood which is a lesser quality than a refurbished original, which does not have the same quality or beauty.

Painted front door and front of house and other small jobs

Stephan and associate were on time, very polite bought the paint for me and even did an extra job for free. They did a great job. I was very impressed and would use them again. They came recommended.

Exterior re-decoration

Excellent workmanship. Honest and friendly and reliable! Would highly recommend, Steffan has obviously been decorating a long time, as he is very experienced and knows tricks of the trade to solve problems. Will be using him again.

Renovation of very large sash windows, taken off all old paint repaired rotton wood. Sah cords and draught excluders fitted and repainted inside out.

Re putted, burnt of paint and re painting, draft proofing and replacement of sash cords.

I have left further feedback about the work Stefan did for me because over the last couple of days I really have noticed just how good the work he did was. The painting he did really is very neat and all of my windows now open and close effortlessly. I no longer have any drafts either which is great. He also came to back to fit the window fittings I bought after he finished the job.
