Update Dab and Dot Property Update 1. Stud Walls (living room, both bedrooms, up the stairs, bathroom) I can still hear walking along the living room wall where I had the stud wall work done. It is occasional and distant. Next door has wooden floors, and I just have carpet without underlay. These sounds could be reduced further with underlay. I don’t know if four layers of everything (sound board, barrier matting, or rock wool) would have made any difference. I don’t know if the materials used for my home solution are the same as one would have used to soundproof a loud factory. If this solution exists or existed, I would have chosen it. Overall I am happy that I cannot hear next door talking, TV light switches ect. I can put up with the occasional thud. 2. Ceiling in the living room I had the living room ceiling done. I wanted the living room to be as quiet as possible; and became convinced that whenever next door play their ‘music’ it seeps into any parts of this house which have not been soundproofed. I no longer hear next door scraping something along their wooden floor. I don’t hear music from next door, but they are not noisy anyway. 2. Bedrooms Don’t hear anything in the soundproofed bedrooms (had stud wall to the party walls, and M20 for the walls adjoining. Before I had the work done, I could hear coughing, light switches ect. I don’t hear next doors bathroom noise in the second bedroom since I had the bathroom done. 3. Bathrooms Had the bathroom done the other day. They installed a stud wall, and new sound board (one layer) and did not remove the old plaster board walls. They could not apply the stud wall all the way down the wall because there is a sewer pipe that runs along the edge of the wall where the bath was. The work made the bathroom a bit smaller than before. I don’t mind the loss of space. Before I could hear talking and singing. I hear if they are banging on the wall? One would hear...

Daniel and his colleague came bright and early to start work. There was a slight confusion regarding the underfloor proofing...but this was quickly resolved at minimum cost (hence why I've marked that I was charged more). The wall was finished by late afternoon and the proofing has made a huge difference. Overall very pleased.

I originally contacted Daniel to quote on soundproofing all the ceilings in my property but eventually contracted him to carry out the complete refurb of my flat. Having never carried out this amount of work on a property, I was nervous about choosing someone, but I couldn't have made a better choice. Daniel and his team were a pleasure to work with. Everything was done to a very high standard and the whole job finished exactly to schedule. Even though we met snags along the way, Daniel and Mick were always able to come up with solutions, and kept me informed at all times. The quality of the work (including the re-plastering) and services were exceptional. Not only has the solution worked and the new ceilings minimised noise from the flat above, great care was taken during the work to protect the wood floor (protective floorboards installed, not just dust-sheets) and our possessions. It was a relief that the work started and finished on time and at no time was it suggested that the price would increase "due to unforeseen circumstances", which often happens with others. The contractors also cooperated with our other contractors so that re-wiring in the ceiling could take place at the same time which was very helpful.

I am very impressed by Daniel and his craftsmen' work. They have made a very significant difference to the noise leaking into my house from next door. Before, I could hear every time they pressed a light switch and unplugged an appliance but I no longer notice the noise from next door in the rooms that were treated. I consider the very reasonable sum that I paid to Daniel and his craftsmen to be money very well spent - I can relax a lot more in my home now without the irritation of hearing all the comings-and-goings from next door. It is like getting my home back again. The solution that they installed (independent wall where possible (with additional matting), M20 panels where there wasn't enough room for an independent wall) is very effective, very reasonably priced, and, in my opinion, very professionally and promptly installed. This is third time I have used this highly professional company. I wanted to have the ceiling; under the stairs area; and the wall associated with it soundproofed, because these areas were not treated, and everyday sounds from next door (dull thud walking around and impact noises) were occasionally creeping in. There is a void underneath the stairs and the ceiling; and sounds will creep into those parts and become audible if not sound proofed. The gentlemen arrived very early (and on time). I had resilient sound breaker bars installed for the living room ceiling, and 2 inch option with rock wool installed in the voids for the internal walls. The work generates a lot of dust, but the guys do their best to minimise this and always tidy up after themselves. Sound breaker bars were installed for both solutions. Since I have had the work done, the living room is extremely quiet (I still do hear the odd thud), but I have to listen very carefully to hear it. I no longer hear sounds coming in from under the stairs. I have had a lot of sound proofing work done (see previous comments ‘1994 dab and dot property’), but this is because next door is rented, and I don’t know what I am going to get, and I don’t want to move house. One needs to bear in mind that the sound reduction achieved depends on the construction of the property, the noise one is trying to block out, and how sensitive to noise one is. If one is looking for total silence, one needs a detached house. The noises I have been complaining about previously have been reduced by about eighty to ninety percent. I am very happy with the results obtained so far, and will post another comment on how it is all going later on. So far so good! Daniel and his team were thoroughly professional in their approach, arriving on time and indeed one day, a little early. They were careful to protect floor surfaces by use of dust sheets and , for wooden floors, hardboard. Each evening they cleaned and left the flat in as good a condition as possible. They finished on time, with plastering and painting completed in time for me to reclaim my flat before the weekend. I had two rooms done and although it is difficult to quantify the results scientifically, footfall is much reduced and very muffled compared with previously. Airborne sound is also much less than previously. So - would I use them again? - most definitely.

Daniel and his whole team did a fantastic job. They were unfailingly punctual, hard working, professional, friendly and polite. Initially they were to soundproof 3 ceilings and 1 wall in my middle floor flat in a Victorian conversion. Once work started, it soon became clear that other walls were in urgent need of replastering. Daniel did his utmost to accommodate the new tasks in the timeframe he had given originally. As a first time buyer with no experience of having work done, Daniel explained everything very patiently and kept me informed each day of the progress made. Daniel and his whole team work to a high standard, with close attention to detail. They left the flat looking like a completely new place, with straight walls and ceilings and a new coat of paint. I am very pleased with the results and am enjoying a much quieter flat. Previously I could hear the TV upstairs virtually word for word, and now it is a faint noise in the background. I can only hear some light footsteps in some places, and it does not disturb me anymore. I whole heartedly recommend Daniel and his team to anyone considering soundproofing. The workmen made the works as pleasant as possible. They left everything clean and tidy. The company was able to help me by getting in a painter to redecorate the walls the next day, which I had decided I wanted done during the works. All in all a very good experience. Most important-the sound proofing seems to have worked with footfalls now very faint indeed.

Great team, very friendly, punctual, tidy, helpful in every aspect. I was told that the soundproofing would be reduced to about 60% and I guess that is what it has done. I had the Resilient/Sound Breaker Bars put into the ceilings with double the amount of wool and soundproofing sheets. Basically as much as was humanly possible, so Daniel and his team couldn't have done any more, with my ceiling height limitations which meant that I could only come down an inch. The team did a great job of what they could do with the soundproofing, and the result is that I can still hear the walking on the floorboards above, which was my main problem, but it is very muffled and more distant, which I can live with quite happily. They also arranged for an electrician to come round and fix some light fittings which was handy. I must admit at first I did get my hopes up that miracles were going to be produced and I would be living in silence, but the reality is, and Daniel will tell you this, that alot of noise comes down the walls, so it would be very hard to eradicate the noise completely. Living in a ground floor flat in London, I guess there's always going to be some neighbourly noise. I'm pretty happy that it's finally done though, as incessant noise can drive you mad, and I can get on with life in moderate quiet. Thank you Daniel, David and Len, I will definitely use you again if need be.

Amazing workmanship, they got into corners and places I thought would have been out of bounds, if they had a motto I'm sure it would be along the lines of "If it's possible we'll do it right away, if it's impossible that might take a little longer but we'll get it done" and believe me they will! Not only do they do everything unlike other companies which do maybe the floor and wall but not the ceiling etc but they also clean up constantly every day and in some cases every hour, it was my neighbours that kept commenting on how well they kept the close clean as they went. An amazing group of workers, they did amazing things and got into corners, under floors and into awkward parts I thought would have been out of the question, if they had a motto I'm sure it would run along the lines of "If it's possible we'll do it right away, if it's impossible that might take a little longer but we'll do it" and believe me they would and did! Daniel did warn us that the noise from our next door neighbours new water pump would not be removed completely, but after his company installed the soundproofing to the front and back bedrooms of our house it is certainly more tolerable. As a result our stress levels, and quality of life, have improved and we are once again able to have our grandchildren, and other guests, stay over.

An amazing job throughout entire flat, not only did they deal with the job as known but also dealt with each individual problem that cropped up as happens in old buildings, the neighbours where also amazed at their cleaning each day as they left, it was as if they were a cleaning company as well. Honestly if it's possible they'll do it right away, if it's impossible that might take them a bit longer but they'll get it done! I can honestly say that people should avoid the boring tedious trawl through all the other soundproofing companies who will be able to do this part of a house but not that part or like double glazing companies will come out and then start giving you ridiculous quotes for less workmanship and materials. Soundproofing R Us do exactly what it says on their website and when they give you a quote that's it so if you need soundproofing done they really are the ones to use.

The soundproofing has already made a huge difference. We still hear the stomping of our inconsiderate neighbours but it is much dampened and we do not hear their voice anymore or the sound of their TV above ours. This is the second time that we had employed Soundproofing R Us, having previously carried out the same work in our bedroom and bathroom. They are without doubt the most reliable builders we've ever employed. They turned up promptly at 8am every day; and barring the noticeable work above our heads you honestly wouldn't have known they had been in each day. We decided to get them to do part of the decorating after the job had been completed and again this was easy to arrange. The work itself has made a huge improvement on what was a very noisy flat. I would estimate that impact ambient noise from upstairs has been reduced by around 90%-95%.

Hello. I had the problem of living in a old block of flats...the wall between me and my neighbours was so bad that when I was sitting quiet at night reading a book I could hear the neighbours having a conversation, and I could even understand what they were talking about....for a long time I tried to forget about this problem by switching on TV or radio. Years later the problem started to really bother me and it started to affect my mental health...i sort of felt like I was living with my neighbours, and I felt that if I could hear them having a conversation, they must be able to hear me also. So when I had visitors around having private conversations, I worried that my neighbours would be able to hear this. It got so bad that I had to do something about the problem, or find somewhere else to live. I found soundproofing r us online, and contacted them about my problem. Daniel visited the flat, and we spoke about the various options on what was possibile. I decided to go for the independent wall, as this gives the best results in regards to overall sound reduction. In Just less than 2 working days, Daniel and his team had delivered (carried up 4 flights of stairs !) built and plastered the wall which spanned across 2 rooms, and I was amazed a the speed of the build, and all the hard work done...it was impressive. All that happened last April 2010...now as I write in Feb of 2011...i feel like I have my privacy back...I can no longer hear people talking...The problem had been solved. Daniel and his team were friendly, and clean workers...and while soundproofing does seem like a big step to take...and a fair sum of money...it is worth it for the peace of mind that it brings.

The speed with which the work was done was incredible - seven days from start to finish: three for soundproofing; one for plastering; and three for painting (and the work involved working around another firm installing cornice). Daniel was hardworking and efficient. Each day he put as many people on to the job as was needed, including when it came to snagging. Darren and Davy were stalwarts throughout, and Marcos somehow managed to plaster 43 square metres in a single day. Zolst the painter worked very hard to finish on time. All in all the best building experience I've experienced, and pain-free given small quibbles. Very happy to recommend.

I cannot recommend Daniel and team highly enough. I was impressed with Daniel right from the start. He turned up on time, was accurate and honest when it came to the quote. The quote came through and was fair and detailed. They came in right on time to do the work. At that point I went skiing as I trusted them to do a great job. 10 days later I returned to find everything had been done to the highest standard and they have completely redecorated my whole flat, even the areas where they didn’t work. Then they cleaned the place up to the point that I hardly needed to clean it myself much. Oh, and half way through the work, my front door lock malfunctioned. Instead of downing tools, they called me on the slopes, organised a locksmith, changed the lock and carried on working. Amazing stuff. Use these guys you won’t regret it. Oh and the soundproofing is absolutely amazing. I went from being able to hear my neighbour talk, cough, watch TV, walk around, to barely being able to hear anything. WORTH EVERY PENNY. The company: Daniel does not hard-sell nor does he try to offer a solution that will not work. He is realistic and his costs are reasonable. The work: a messy and - considering the number of ceilings/ walls - complex job undertaken with skill, tenacity and quality workmanship. Our Victorian lower ground flat in the middle of London is now much easier to live in and a few days on we are still relaxing into the new peace and quiet. The team: Daniel's team were all excellent from start to finish - skilled, polite, courteous, helpful, punctual, hardworking. They went after the job flat out over two weeks to get it done bang on schedule. So did he do what he said he would? Yes, absolutely. But more too. In the decorating phase, Zsolt and Tommy made our flat look better than it had before the work was done. Marcus is a really skilled plasterer. We recommend having the decorating done as part of the job as they are very good, build it into the time frame of the work and thus leave the job with everything back to normal. The experience: Well, taking down your ceilings is not without disruptions. But Daniel's crew - especially Darren, Davey and Igor - went out of their way to do more than they needed to. Daniel is a great team leader and project manager. If he says he'll do it, he will and he'll do it on time and in budget. Reliable.

This is second time I have used this highly professional company. I wanted extra sound proofing in addition to the walls which this company had already successfully completed. I am happy with the stud wall solution I originally chose for the party walls, but a small amount of noise was leaking in through the untreated ones. The extra work included stud walling up the stairs, and the noisy corner in the living room. I also had M20 sound panels fitted to both sides of both bedroom walls (although I did not add the extra panels added as Daniel recommended as I was worried about losing too much room space.) I can still hear the odd knock (impact noise) from next door, but it is not as irritating as it was. Once I have re carpeted the property and fixed quality underlay this may be improved (although soundproofing the floor is something I am considering). Any noise I do hear comes in from outside the property (especially through the living room). Overall I am very happy with the result. One has to be realistic about what to expect. The outcome of soundproofing depends on the type of property and how sensitive one is to noise. Daniel and his team arrived very early and ploughed on with the job at speed. They also cleaned up after themselves and even polished the furniture which became dusty as a result of the building works. I definitely recommend this company if one requires sound insulation.

Daniel and his team have done a first class job for me in soundproofing the ceilings in my flat. I was experiencing severe disruption caused by a very noisy family living in the flat above me. The noise was so bad that I had to find alternative living accommodation. Since moving back into my flat, I have been amazed by the results of the soundproofing work. I can now enjoy living in my home with peace and quiet. I was also extremely impressed with the level of professionalism and efficiency with which the job was done. For example, the furniture in my flat was returned to how it was before the work started, the work finished ahead of schedule, I was kept up to date with the progress of the work at all times and the team (including an electrician and painter/decorator) were friendly, courteous and clearly highly skilled. However, most importantly the cost of doing the job represented very good value for money. I unreservedly recommend Soundproofing R Us and would like to say a big thank you to the team who made this project a success.

Problem: New build (1994) semi detached property suffering from intrusive heavy bass lines, and or surround sound music through paper thin party walls. Plaster board on breeze block. Loud intrusive music with heavy bass lines, echoing subwoofer attached to computer games, loud surround sound TV, baby crying, stamping around, audible light switches being turned on and off. Could hear water ‘swishy’ sounds from the concealed waste pipe in living room. Audible sound if person next door wiped their hands over the party wall. Walls sound very hollow when knocked. Solution: Independent wall solution for party wall in living room, and both bedrooms. Party wall cupboard in the main bedroom was fitted with the MD20 solution. Treated walls replastered. New walls now conform to Part E building regulations. I initially contacted Daniel because I could occasionally hear next doors TV. The noise worsened when the existing tenants moved out and new ones moved in. I became increasingly irritated about this (especially the loud music and echoing subwoofer) and decided to contact Soundproofing R Us. It was then that I discovered that the noise coming from next door was to do with the construction of the property rather than antisocial behaviour from my neighbours. The property is constructed of breeze blocks which although very strong, are totally useless for sound insulation. Daniel recommended the independent stud wall solution to aid this problem. This solution involved losing 4 to 5 inches of wall space. Once the work was completed, the loss in wall space was not noticeable. Daniel and his team arrived on time (8am) and did a very professional job. They are not like other workmen. They ploughed on with the job at speed with only a short lunch break, and tidied up after themselves. Soundproofing in my opinion is not a job for the DIY addict. The sound panels are extremely heavy and cannot fit into an ordinary white van.

Great job. The soundproofing has been more effective than I'd dared to hope thanks, I think, to the various different acoustic measures installed. The work was done efficiently and tidily, including the plastering and painting - so much so that the new ceiling in fact looks nicer than the original it replaced.

We required soundproofing to block out sound coming from a neighbouring property inhabited by about 10 noisy party-animals! The disturbance was confined to two rooms in particular. The soundproofing has made a huge difference to us! We can hardly hear anything from next door now in the two rooms. Most of the time there is absolute silence. Occasionally we hear a very faint noise if they have loud music on but what gets through is so faint you really have to listen carefully for it. No more sleepless nights! Daniel and the team were on time, very friendly, and left zero mess behind each day. They finished on time despite the added problems when taking down the original ceiling. Although the flat upstairs is vacant at the moment I cant comment on the reduction in noise (i.e walking around, creaking floor), which before was really bad. The noise had previously been a big problem in this house, since the soundproofing has been done there have been no complaints. There was a problem with a gas pipe during the work and Daniel arranged for the Gas man to come and replace the pipe and also arranged for excess rubbish to be taken away. Very helpful in terms of guidance on what was needed and an insight into why most problems with noise occur. Overall I was very impressed indeed.

I would like to show my appreciation to Daniel for all his help in resolving the sound problems we were having with our neighbours upstairs. We live in a bottom floor maisonette and the couple upstairs recently had a baby which meant all through the night they were walking around causing constant banging and creaking. Daniel advised that the best solution would be to remove the old ceiling and replace with the Resilient/Sound Breaker Bars system. This has worked better than I ever imagined as it has reduced the noise levels by at least 90% and we are now getting full nights sleep which we haven’t had for months. The guys were extremely professional, neat and tidy and very polite. They completed a great job and we are very happy with the result and I can’t put in words how much we appreciate what they have done for us as this has changed our live. We would recommend them to anyone.
