Supply and fit awning.

I ordered an awning 4.2 mtrs when it arrived eventually it was to short and was letting in the sun at both ends just what we didn't want, the company suggested side panels at an extra cost to us, when they returned 8 weeks later one panel was wrong so took it away to alter it, I felt this was the bosses faut as he measured it. It is now 10 weeks and we have not heard since. I have phoned them two or three times but can only get the secretary, I would like them to come and take it down as I have had enough, since they put it up it has gone wrong and no longer will go in or out, I have paid for something I cannot use. The awning was ordered initially in March 2007. What a mess up.

On 9th May, not March, I visited your home in Rustington to ascertain the suitability of fitting an awning to the UPVC fascia above the patio doors of the front sunroom/extension. There was no brickwork ie: piers at either side to support the awning the construction being of UPVC fully glazed with a plastered internal ceiling and flat roof. The fascia upon which it was suggested we fix the awning was UPVC clad and therefore I was unable to ascertain the position of the longitudinal joists and the type of fixing used to pin the lateral joists to the end of the joists. Before accepting the order I stated that we should contact the builder, and had several conversations with him prior to acceptance of an order. He informed me that the support joist run from front to back terminating in a lateral beam across the front of the structure which is concealed behind the UPVC. He advised that we fix the awning support brackets as lose as possible to the point where the longitudinal joists were fixed to the lateral beam. We could not fix to the edge joists as the rainwater provisions were in the way. We therefore fixed our brackets as near as possible to what we assumed to be the nearest intermediate joist and taking into consideration, that even with the light weight awning suggested when fully extended and subject to wind pressure there is considerable load. In order to achieve this we had to sacrifice 100mm or 4" at each side. Reducing the overall width from 4.2m to 4.0m. Our prime consideration is to fit in a manner which is not prejudicial to safety. In fact it was only after several discussions that I felt happy to accept the order which was finally placed on 22nd May. You were kept informed of our intentions at all times. When our fitters came to fit the awning, despite what we discussed you insisted that you ordered a 4.2m awning and refused them to fit the 4.0m awning. I then had to visit your home and outline again the reasons for reducing the width to 4.0m an acknowl
