They were always friendly and courteous, but very much focussed on the job in hand. The trader did an OK job, but broke the pilot light knob whilst operating the boiler. He did not think that it was right that he should replace or pay to replace what he had broken. The boiler was serviced about 3 years ago and in all that time, I had manipulated the control knob many times with no issue."

As the customer states, the job was done ok, arrived on time as usual found a boiler over 20 years old and didn't look like it had been serviced in its lifetime .Spent 3 times longer than usual on this type of job Boiler now working as it should. operated the gas control knob when servicing the boiler and it broke probably due to the excess heat around the bottom of the boiler and the amount of use it has had, tried to find a second hand one but couldn't this was explained to customer but I feel that they just wanted us to pay for a brand new gas control knob.

We had been suffering a Potterton gas boiler that howled like a banshee but otherwise operated reasonably well. We looked up in CheckaTrade to find a reputable heating company and my husband had some detailed discussions with Mr Dale about possible causes of and remedies for the problem. It was decided to order and fit a new fan - which was duly done in the course of a full boiler and heating system service. We chose not to opt for a pressure flush so draining and refilling the system took a long time - especially trying to bleed the air out afterwards - and the team were with us for much of the day. However, the fee charged was what we had been quoted and the guys were courteous and tidy. Although some boiler noise initially remained it soon settled down and we were able to keep warm throughout the winter without unearthly noises into the bargain. It was great to be able to have diagnostic discussions about the problem and we would certainly go to TipTop again for any future issues and regular servicing.

This company replaced a printed circuit board (not charged for) and a gas valve in the boiler before coming to the conclusion that the gas pipe leading to the boiler from the meter was blocked. With regard to this, I was understandably less than pleased to be charged for a gas valve that the appliance didn't need. I complained to the company and Checkatrade, and eventually, today (4th August 2010) I have received a very nice letter, full of apology for the less than satisfactory works undertaken, a free boiler service for next year, and a refund for the amount that I had originally paid. I have to say that, whilst it is not always possible for a company to provide 100% satisfaction to a customer, it is only when things go awry that the quality and integrity of such a company is put to the test. Tip-Top pride themselves in their honesty and good customer relations, and they have proven themselves worthy because of this. I shall use them again.

They were informative, friendly, started on time and finished on time. They replaced old system with new and added radiators to three previously unheated furnished bedrooms with minimum disruption.
