Mr Harvey provided advice on options, examples of materials and examples of previous work. He was regularly on site keeping us informed and work on track. His team were polite, tidy and as quiet as could reasonably be expected. The weather was unusually cold and windy but work went according to schedule. The end result looks in keeping with the original structure and has drawn admiration from neighbours.

'Traditional' have just completed a single storey extension (kitchen, shower room/toilet and utility room) at my address. I chose this company after viewing references on Checkatrade. I had also used the company for garage roofing work on a previous occasion. Alan Harvey has been most helpful from his very first visit. Although planned for a mid-September start, Alan explained he was in some difficulty because bad weather had delayed completion of some earlier work. It was agreed that the 15th October would be a more satisfactory start date and he would make every effort to give us a useable kitchen for Christmas. He was as good as his word and organised men and materials in such a way that excellent progress was made throughout the project. I had originally requested that the estimate should be detailed according to trade and this was provided. By his own admission, 'Traditional' are not the cheapest but I feel they provided more specific cost information and more importantly kept me informed at every stage of the work and, would you believe, even supplied me with a written summary of the proposed works to be carried out on a daily basis! All the team worked to my satisfaction, were courteous, helpful and considerate when working in the house. We are very pleased overall with the finished extension and I would have no hesitation in recommending Alan Harvey and his company and using Traditional Building and Roofing Contractors again.

Alan is a very polite and courteous man, who has a strong desire to make the customer happy. After being concerned that I was going to have a fight on my hands to get the job finished to my satisfaction, Alan put my mind at rest and immediately arranged for his people to revisit the job, and work on what I was unhappy with. I had several builders quote for the job, and Alan was the most competitive, even doing some work that wasn't in the original specified. I would use his company again.

Mr Harvey came and undertook a number of small but niggling issues that we had remaining in our building works this included cracks in hall way, mending radiators and small carpentry works. As he has a team of professional trades people no job is too large or small.

When Alan came out to give a quote, we were shocked that he wanted to measure the distance between our neighbours trees and where the work would be. Once we received the quote, we were staggered as to his detail of the quote. Other people gave a one page estimate - Alan's was 8 pages long. Work carried out to a brilliant standard with utmost professional attitude from all his men. Due to our fault, the work started 3 weeks behind schedule but within 10 days, they were ahead of schedule. Suggestions were made by Alan to improve our home which were gratefully accepted. Will deal with again and have already recommended Alan to a friend who has used him for her building works.

Alan was absolutely brilliant not only did he take over the job completely but ensured that the staff knew exactly what was required of them and checked at all times that everything was on schedule and that I was happy. Whilst some of my chouices of paint might not have been expected, ALan and his team did offer to changethe colour if once seeing it I changed my mind... we all agreed that I had made the right choice !!!!! Alan's workmen were all very courteous and polite, they were kind to the cats and appreciated that the cats being old might be a bit upset. The guys were always early but were polite and waited outside even though I had said they were welcome to come in. On occassions I was on my own and needed to move things or get them from the garage the guys always offered to help me especially if the items were heavy. It was a delight to go home at night and find that everything had been stored away neatly and work areas either vacuumed or floors washed. Everyone always offered to take shoes off when coming through the front door and made sure they did not leave a mess. They treated my home with respect and I am more than happy to recomment Alan and the company to anyone.

The bathroom was completely refurbished to a very high standard. This included removing the old bathroom, new plumbing, new electrics, plastering, tiling and installing a new bathroom suite. Mr Harvey co-ordinated all the different tradesmen to ensure that no time was wasted. They were all extremely courteous and reliable. Alan responded to my request for help on the same day I rang him. He rang to say when he was coming and as the gutter was not blocked, was able to tell me what the problem was so I could ask my neighbour to whom the responsibility fell. He has worked for us in the past and has impressed me with his quick response time, ability to assess the situation and politeness. When another contractor had repeatedly failed to remedy a particular problem, Alan was able to come in and sort it out quickly and effectively. He is my first choice for his line of work and I have recommended him to others.

Following initial contact and a prompt meeting we were given a reasonable estimate and the work was able to start very quickly. The roofing was done in good time and to a good standard despite it being in the cold spell in February. When we found that the wrong chimney had been capped, this was promptly corrected. The new porch was again done in good time and to a good standard. The work was well-managed, all questions and issues were sorted out very quickly. Now the scaffolding and skip have been removed the house looks really good.

The building programme was clearly defined in advance, with the targets established for the week ahead. Stage payments were made at the end of each week. The extras we requested were quoted and accepted in advance. Mr Harvey runs a superb team and, sensibly, brings in specialists (electricians, painters, plumbers, patio-layers etc) as required. Their attendance on site was pre-arranged and happened exactly as planned, as indeed was the delivery of the various materials required at each stage of the project. The entire team performed with courtesy (not only to ourselves but also to our neighbours) and were truly professional every step of the way, with the site being maintained in a tidy state throughout. The bonus was that the works were completed 3 weeks ahead of schedule! Highly recommended.

Alan Harvey responded very quickly to my initial phone call requesting quote for fitting two Velux windows into existing roof. Alan's subsequent visit was followed up very quickly with a written quote. I felt the quote was good value for money and requested the work be carried out. On the agreed date 'The Team' arrived promptly in the morning keen to get started. Alan was on site first thing to ensure everything was OK and visited during the day to check all was well. The team of tradesmen worked well together and obviously had a good working relationship. They were efficient, tidy, courteous and helpful when discussing practical options such as positioning of windows relative to existing roof trusses etc . After all this, the work was completed well within the estimated time and to a good level of quality. I would not hesitate to recommend this Company and the team for any building work small or large. Mr Harvey, Alan is easy to talk to, he offered me advice on how to trim down to my budget, he was flexible when I changed things he sourced things for me while out he was honest and straight with me. All the tradesmen that came to my house worked with him they knew each other and had happy builder banter they didn't expect tea every hour and not once did they ask for it. I was happy to have them in my house they loved my little dog and looked out for him they even made him a dog ramp to access the garden during the build. I cannot recommend Alan and his crew enough happy to be contacted to confirm or for people to have a look. As a women on her own I hated dealing with tradesmen Alan has restored my faith and built me a beautiful room and downstairs toilet (added later). Thank you Alan and the boys !

Alan and the team did a fantastic job. From the outset Alan offered straightforward advice about how best to complete the work outlining the various options and impact on cost. He helped us find a designer/engineer to complete the drawings required for the various building and planning regulations. Alan provided a detailed quote with all elements of cost broken down so you can determine how best to manage your budget and a clear timeline for payment as the works progressed. He was also the only builder who came a checked the depth of the existing footings, lifted floor boards to make sure his assumptions were correct in respect of the cost he offered. The breakdown of cost also outlined any contingency he had allowed for additional requests that may be made by the council's building inspector. Once the work commenced all the materials, skips and workmen arrived in line with the schedule and Alan kept us updated of progress either via a call or e-mail. This helped deal with the issues as they occurred. In fact they finished the work ahead of schedule!. The team were always friendly and courteous both to us and our neighbours and the site was tidied at the end of every day. The general quality of work is excellent and where you pick up snags or things you are not happy with Alan and the team are easy to talk to and get these things put right. Even the local building inspector commented that the work completed on my house was of a good quality and he should know!. I would happily recommend Traditional to anyone considering using them

Mr Harvey managed our 3 month building project with utmost professionalism. Things were done to budget and time. The whole project went very smoothly. All his men were prompt, polite and extremely considerate especially as we have two young children. At the end of the day, things were cleared away and you always felt that you could approach Mr Harvey with queries and comments at anytime. He was considerate to our neighbours and kept them informed at all times. We even went on holiday twice during the works !! I would have no hesitation in recommending him.
