Decorate kitchen, utility room walls, conservatory and paint 2 new cupboards
We hired the trader to carry out some internal decoration. Our kitchen and utility rooms were originally green and I asked the trader to paint them pale yellow. Instead of painting with an undercoat of white to cover the green the trader painted straight over with the yellow and after 4 coats I can still see the green through it. He also did not loosen the light switches so did not do the edging properly. I gave up pointing out the problems and will now have to do this myself. The trader got paint on my new floor which I had to remove, but tidied equipment away at end of each day.

15 February 2012Response from Victor Noades:
In response to the customer’s comments, I have been a painter and decorator for 40 years, and have never received a complaint regarding my work. I carry out my work to my usual high standards and this is reflected in my 198 positive recommendations from customers. When I started, I was advised that they would supply all materials to be used, no white undercoat was supplied for me to use. The customers light switches are sealed units and could not be disturbed so they could not be loosened. I have been back to see my customer to discuss their concerns about paint on their new floor. I found that the paint was on the masking tape which when removed found that there were no marks on the customers flooring. During this work I carried out a few other jobs for the customer free of charge, I did not have to do this, but I like to help my customers. They have not given me the opportunity to put matters right and feel this is a little unfair. The customer seemed happy at the end of this job and paid me in full, if there were any problems they would not have paid me.
