Checked for a leak

The arrangement made with the office was to provide a free quote for identifying a leak. I was under the impression this had to be done before any work could be carried out, ie to ascertain how complicated it would be. When the fellow arrived, he said he was there to actually investigate the leak and told me I would be charged, so I didn't have much choice. The tests carried out were ones I could easily have performed myself, but had not, as the arrangement was for a quote only. Nevertheless, he was courteous and v helpful in identifying a faulty water meter as opposed to a leak and I managed to claim the costs back from Thames Water.
