We had a very large and odd shaped decorative landing light that we need installing. We have very high ceilings as it is a Victorian house. Mike took the time to ensure his ladder did not scratch the paint work on our walls and ensured the light was fixed correctly as it was very heavy.

This shower had been leaking for months after a previous installer had been unable to fix it. Mike repaired the valve and reinstalled a lot of the plumbing which had been incorrectly fitted. Excellent work!

Once the job was finished, the client decided to change their mind over what they wanted, despite the detail provided in our fixed price quote and contract. Our aim is to avoid any confusion, ambiguity or discrepancy for the client and the quotes clearly show the tasks that will (and therefore wont) be done. Any extra work not in the contract is additional and should be legitimately paid for; unfortunately this client did not believe that was fair. The breakdown of this relationship was such a shame and we feel we have done everything to positively appease it. We take all feedback as constructive and our aim (as proved by all our other 157 happy customers over the last 6 years) is top marks in Check A Trade. PR Ltd is a company not an individual and although a fault was caused with the floor tiles (and offered to be rectified immediately) the two workers responsible have not worked for this business since. The client proposed a settlement which we accepted (no charge for the work plus a monetry credit) and we considered the agreement closed.

This was a major refurbishment project taking over two months to complete. Allowing for the unforeseen additional work the job came in on budget and within time. Extra work and variations were handled without any fuss and at reasonable costs. Very happy with management of finances, Mike' s approach and phased payments were very fair and open. All in all the quality of work was excellent with good attention to detail throughout all aspects of the project. Mike and his team clearly take a pride in their work and strive to deliver, even under pressure, a quality end product that the client is happy with. Yes, there were some minor niggles, although I suspect fewer than might have been the case with a different builder doing a project of this scale. Equally there were aspects where the quality and his helpfulness exceeded my expectations. In conclusion I would have no hesitation in using Mike again and recommending him for similar works.

Mike was very conscientious when drawing up the quote and the work programme. It was straightforward for us to agree how the work was to proceed and to dovetail supply of appliances etc with the main building work. Kitchen was more than estimated but my research led me to believe it would be. The units chosen had a longer lead than normal which upset the completion date so was beyond Mike' s control. The workmanship was to a high standard and I was very pleased with the result. This was a large project and a long time in planning. Mike spent 9 months dealing with me before starting the work. The project went well and despite a longer than expected finishing date, Mike did keep me informed of everything and manage expectations. Mike's estimates were, in my mind, a competitive advantage as it enabled me to see where major expenses were, gave me comfort that he had thought through the work involved, allowed me to prioritise the work before starting and immediately assess any problems as they arose. Mike did keep within his estimates as much as possible but given the age and extent of the work there were bound to be project revisions and we discussed these as we progressed. I was happy with the end result and would use Parkinson Restoration again.

Although my idea, this was not part of the original project, but rather an early-project revision that required a short notice decision once the floorboards were lifted. Unfortunately the eventual cost was way over the estimate because the screed supplier charged 60% more than the quote they gave. I was deeply unhappy with this but it is a credit to Mike that my single serious issue throughout a 4 month project was definitely beyond his control. Although expensive and caused a ripple delay to the project, I think it did contribute positively to the overall result and the work was carried out to a good standard.

This part of the project was where it all started. I was impressed that within two hours of arriving a start had already been made to knocking out the bricks in the chimney. I was shown in detail problems identified during this process (including a trip on to the roof!) and solutions/options were offered. I have to say this is one of the BEST people and electrician I came across in this country! I am very, very please with the work that they have done. First of all, quotation of the work is very accurate! They done what they have said on the paper. So I don't need to worry about unexpected cost at the end of the job. Second, they show up on time on site everyday and clean up everyday before they leave the site. Also, Mike would phone me personally every night to make sure everything is working as expected and I am happy with the work and progress. Third, not only they listen to where I would like to put the down lights, they also give valuable input based on their experience which came out beautifully. Fourth, there are many areas they can cut corner since I don't have any knowledge of electrical work. For e.g. Running wires thru the joints are very time consuming. They could have done that without me even notice. But people from Parkinson choose to make sure all wires that they run are following the regulation. Last but not least, testing took almost one day. I was so impressed the time that they put in to make sure every single light in the ceiling is correctly wired. I had bad experienced with other electrician. Either they did half of the job, cut corner or it costs more than on paper. People from Parkinson are well over my expectation. I am very please with them. They are truly professional team of people. I will definitely use them again and recommend them to my friends. They might be a little bit more expensive than other quote, but this is money well spend and a peace of mind for reliable people and work. Mike, you can use me as reference anytime you like. As electrical work on existing cables is billed as actual time rather than a usual fixed price, any problems with cables need to be resolved and the time paid for. Unfortunately this property had two unknown serious problems on the same circuit from a previous electrician, this is the reason we have been perhaps inappropriately scored down on our estimating.

This extensive work was undertaken with the minimum of fuss (Mike had to work around large items of furniture). The house, which had not been updated since the fifties, has been brought, by Mike, into the twenty-first century. I would recommend them.

Estimating - the client was aware that electrical works on existing cables are billed on actual time taken which includes the rectification of faults, which we experienced on 3 circuits whilst replacing the consumer unit. Of course the estimated time for doing the job did not include the rectification of faults that were unknown, hence this is why we only charge for the time that is spent on rectification we believe this is the fairest way. Its therefore a little unfair to be scored down on something that we had rectify to ensure the safety of the existing installation.
