Matt and Joe put up two new fences and cleared out all the old undergrowth and ivy. They were efficient, and fast finishing in less than the three days estimated. They cleared up effectively and were unfailingly courteous to us and our neighbours through whose garden they had to come in and out. Another excellent job.

Matt and his team were prompt, efficient and did the job to our complete satisfaction. The team are always polite and courteous and keep the work place tidy, they clear up after themselves every day. They are a pleasure to work with. We have now used them 3 times, previously to remove a tree and ivy and replace another fence. They were initially recommended to us by a neighbour and we have in turn recommended them to other neighbours. Matt and his team are able to advise and undertake all sorts of garden related matters.

Roots Upwards did a first class job on what was a complete overhaul of the outside of our house. We now have a splendid brick and flint front wall, that passers by stop to admire, and a beautiful brick front path, front drive and rear terrace. We were given excellent advice on materials and costs and are so pleased with the results. The men who carried out the work were helpful, courteous, hard working and as unobtrusive as possible. Would recommend highly to anyone.

Probably good to employ for outside works in the garden but certainly not for masonry. He acquired the stone without consulting us first and dismissed our concerns. One of the posts he erected was totally unsafe.

The masonry work consisted of building up 2 stone piers either side of a gateway and a central post, trying to match in with a 100 year old natural stone wall. On a number of occasions, we consulted the customer’s wife during the building process to make sure they were happy with the work/stone. We are not in the habit of carrying on with a three day project if the customer is not happy. Four days after having started the work, the husband decided that the work was not, in fact, to their liking. We then took considerable time talking to and emailing the customer with solutions, however, we were stopped halfway through the garden works and pulled up on parts we were not given the opportunity to finish or check. We removed the dangerous post as soon as we became aware of it. Despite our considerable efforts to find a solution that would be agreeable to both parties, a happy outcome was not reached on this occasion.

My contractors were given conflicting instructions about the work to be carried out and although I offered to resolve her issues without charge, she was not willing to allow me to do this. One of her main complaints was that my contractors had not waited to be offered a cup of tea but had asked for one.
