“Derek came to close our gas fire and insert a balloon in our chimney. He did both, but left us with a gas leak. We didn’t realise until the morning, as we thought the smell was left over from the work, but in the morning the house was full of gas so I called Derek and he came immediately. His spray showed that there was a jet of gas leaking from the pipe, initially he said he would have to cut a hole in the wall and close off the pipe, when I said I would prefer British Gas to do this, he found he was able to stop the leak by adjusting the screw, which resolved the issue.”

Response from Surrey Gas Solutions Richmond & Kingston:
I am so sorry that you were not happy with my work, when I cut off your gas fire I performed a tightness test and put LDF fluid on the end cap and the isolation valve. The next morning, I received a call from your husband saying he could smell gas, I was back inside your property in 10 minutes. I said if your Isolation valve is a problem I may have to change it , the valve is embedded in the wall which I would have to cut around if this was a problem. The screw inside of the isolation valve had a rubber washer which was perished, I changed the washer and put more LDF fluid on the valve and was ok, I then performed another tightness test and your husband was happy. The isolation valve and the gas pipe were both painted so I bought new 8m copper pipe and never charged you for this. I was very quick to come back to your property to rectify the situation. I am very disappointed that you are not happy with me as I pride myself on my work.
