My name is Johnny Gribble and I specialise in returning areas of neglected gardens and larger estates into nicer places to enjoy. For the last 3 years I have taken on some large projects including a current one that has been running for 2 years now.
Having trained at 2 colleges, Merrist Wood in Guildford and Sparsholt in Winchester and having been a full-time employee with the Forestry Commission at Alice Holt near Farnham in Surrey for 8 years, I have a vast wealth of experience, knowledge and expertise in this area of work.
The type of work that I do includes; vast areas of any sized brambles cleared using only the most powerful Stihl Brushcutter on the market, it eats brambles and general unwanted growth for breakfast! I’m very fast in my work but very thorough.
My recent large project was and still is (until bird nesting season starts) restoring neglected hedgerows, hazel that hadn’t been coppiced for many years, new Chestnut fencing was produced by me from Chestnut on the estate and the saved hazel rods were used to create a nice fence where there were gaps in the hedgerow, hazel whips were then planted where some of the hazel had unfortunately died.
I do also take on larger unruly gardens, I don’t enjoy neat gardens as I get an incredible buzz from the before and after scenario. I have no interest in hedge cutting although I do love hedge restoration and restoring them for future interest. I never remove green waste as that’s not what I’m interested in getting into, hence why I try and get work on larger country estates or gardens where waste can be burnt or even better, composted depending on the client’s requests, Chippers can always be hired if necessary.
I do love gardening and garden restoration and about 40% on my work is looking after gardens I have restored and now carry out weekly or monthly maintenance in these gardens. I have qualifications in Horticulture so understand pruning techniques, roses are one of my specialities, I love nothing more than bringing old neglected roses back to life again with correct pruning and lots of homemade mulch and a happy smiling face, it makes all the difference being happy around plants! (now you think I’m mad)
