Max's property maintenance.

My name is Max and I started my company last year. I clean gutters, do roof repairs, pressure wash roofs, patios and paths, and do home maintenance and home improvement work.

My back ground in the building trade is that I spent some years with a company that built small oak framed buildings. We would arrive on site a truck would show up with the building materials and we would start work. By the end of the week we would have the building up and be working on the roof. We would do everything so I got to practise many skills. Before I was involved in building I had another occupation. I taught sailing and did yacht deliveries. One of the deliveries was to take a large mulitihull yacht to Portugal for some serious work. I arrived at the port on the Algarve with the yacht in one piece. Sadly the boat builder who was supposed to do the work decided that he wanted a lot more money than previously agreed. The owner didn't want to carry on with that boat builder and hired me to set up what became a small boat yard. I found a man in the U.K. who trained myself and the staff I had found, and I spent two years boat building. At the end of which I used my new skills to design and build a carbon fiber rudder for my own small yacht, which I tested by sailing from Portugal to the Caribbean and back to the U.K.

My fiance lived in East Grinstead, I arrived back, after a single  handed Atlantic crossing in 2015 and moved in with her. Wanting to take a break from the sea, I started work with the company that errected oak framed buildings, it was hard work but lots of fun. Most of the buildings were built in inaccesable parts of gardens or fields. We didnt often have the use of a crane, so everything was done by man power. When it was time for me to move on from that job I did various other building work before setting up the company I have now.

I enjoy finding answers to problems, and I like the creative side of my work. Its nice to fix things and I do get a buzz out of seeing a customer smile when they see the results of my work. Another aspect of being my own boss is that I can take my dog Luna with me, she certainly makes the day more fun.
