My name is Piers Shrapnell and my company is PJS Restoration which I founded in 2003.
I have had an interest in antiques ever since my parents dragged me round antique shops when I was young.
I grew up finding I like to fix things and fate led me to antiques after completing a French polishing course at adult education college.
I then went onto completing an HND in furniture restoration at London Guildhall university from 1996-1999 which included furniture making and various aspects of furniture making.
I have previously worked for companies in South East London and the Home Counties.
The services I offer are mainly cabinet making woodwork, French polishing, modern finishing including polyurethane lacquers and Wax Oils but furniture restoration covers many aspects including:  carving, desktop re-leathering, veneering, small metalwork, caning, rushing, water and oil gilding etc.
I don’t  carry out upholstery or upholstery repairs as I believe it is a special subject on its own although I have studied the subject.
For more information and advice please contact me at [email protected] or by phone on 07854497772
*Please note putting room diffusers with the sticks on a finished table without a coaster which may leak onto the surface,  causing a costly mistake.*
