“I asked York Plumbing and Heating Ltd for a quote for moving pipes and radiators, installing Hive and a repair of the bolier, which would not start. On the sopot the engineer checked the pre-paid meter I had, inserted the top-up card and showed me which button to press after that, which resolved the issue. At no point before, during or after this visit a cost for this repair was mentioned, so I just thanked him. However, on 13th Aug I received an invoice for £72. I requested a quote and had I know I'd be charged, I would have asked the engineer not to touch the meter until I decide to go ahead.”
