The effects of coronavirus (COVID-19) have already radically changed the way we work and live. It is a worrying time for everyone. Now more than ever, it is vital we support each other as best we can to beat this.
We are all in this together. During this challenging time, we wanted to acknowledge and give thanks to our hard-working and talented Checkatrade tradespeople. Our community of tradespeople continue to work tirelessly to support those in their community that need them with emergency repairs during the fight against COVID-19.
We say a big thank you to our hero tradespeople, who are spreading kindness, tackling home emergencies and making a real difference to people’s lives at this challenging time.
Despite the difficult circumstances, our dedicated tradespeople continue to serve their communities, help people with home emergencies and work tirelessly doing what they do best. Here’s a snapshot of just some of our hero tradespeople in action.
Keeping the elderly safe is crucial, and all our tradespeople are taking strict precautions when visiting the homes of the most vulnerable.
A 93-year-old customer from London praised the considerate steps taken by Kevin from Harrow, Wembley and Uxbridge-based Sirius AV to fix her TV aerial. Not only did he carry out all communication by telephone from his car to adhere to social distancing, he was praised highly for being “polite and hardworking.” The customer couldn’t have praised him high enough for his considerate approach to social distancing and even gave a tip because of his professional service.
Our team of professional tradespeople have been working under government social distancing guidelines to protect their customers and their families within their homes.
A customer had some emergency air conditioning work carried out in March by Adrian from Canterbury company Be Cool, and she was impressed by his professional approach.
She commented that Be Cool had been “fantastic, fully protected with gloves, mask and observed social distancing.” She also spoke highly of their professional approach, saying they were “very clean, polite, professional and reassuring and delivered an excellent service.”
The grateful customer also rated this trader 10/10 for courtesy, workmanship, tidiness, reliability and timekeeping.
The consideration and big hearts of our dedicated Checkatrade workforce have been even more evident during this crisis.
Andy, locksmith and carpenter from Lockswood in Hove, has been offering support to his community, kindly volunteering to collect and deliver medical supplies and groceries to anyone in need.
Andy posted on his Instagram account: “As a valued customer, friend or follower of mine I would like to offer my time to you if required. If you need any shopping or medical supplies, please do let me know and I would be more than happy to collect this for you.
“I am taking all steps possible to not catch the virus and have disposable gloves, antibacterial wipes, antibacterial gel, and masks in my van ready for use.”
Andy has offered to collect and drop any items that people in his community may need to their doorsteps throughout the lockdown.
The team from O’Briens Electrical have kindly waived any callout charges for NHS staff and the elderly living within the borough of Bexley during the COVID-19 crisis.
As part of their ongoing support to the local community, Darren and the team completed a job for an elderly Bexley resident who had no lighting in her disabled bathroom.
Not only was there no callout fee, but the team’s engineer, Dan, kindly collected essential groceries for her from the local shop. The O’Briens heroes have also returned to Ann with a replacement kettle they purchased for her as a gift.
Each of these kind deeds was carried out while observing social distancing rules, with protective masks and gloves and the utmost care and consideration. Well done team O’Briens.
What could be more uplifting during a crisis than finding a sense of community spirit?
Patrick and the team at Sussex Glazing Services thought of an innovative and uplifting idea to keep spirits high during COVID-19.
They have set up a social distancing gaming screen on the side of their work van, where gamers can enjoy a bit of friendly competition at a safe distance.
Up to four players can enjoy gaming on the big screen and safely compete during lockdown. The novel idea is already causing a stir in the community and keeping much-needed smiles on people’s faces.
A big thank you to our Checkatrade family of tradespeople for your tireless efforts and consideration despite the challenges we all face due to the coronavirus pandemic. Don’t forget you can use our video calling feature to speak to or get a quote from any of our tradespeople during the lockdown.
We will overcome this challenge together.
To all our tradespeople and customers, we hope you, your family and friends keep safe and well.
