Now is a great time to get qualified in this high growth industry to become a specialist and Certified EV Charging Point Installer.

In a bid to tackle air pollution the government announced plans to ban all new petrol and diesel cars in the UK from 2040. However, the Committee on Climate Change is expected to state that the ban should be moved forward a decade to 2030 instead. The government also announced that in order to cut emissions further all new homes in the UK would need to be fitted with electric vehicle charging points.

As fossil fuel motors become a thing of the past and more electric vehicles are introduced it is fair to say that meter installations will need to increase dramatically to meet their expectations. This is great news for electricians as more and more EV charging points installers will be required to keep up with the high demand for installing these points.

Extra Revenue stream

EV is an exciting new sector from which existing electricians and installers can diversify into. We believe that EV installers will be in high demand and having this new skill in your toolbox, ready for the boom, will be a great career investment.

It is estimated that by 2020 1.2 million electric cars will be on the road and by 2030 50% of vehicles produced will be either electric or plug-in hybrid. Therefore, the increase in charge points will only grow, which is great news for anyone looking to add EV car charging point installation as an additional skill to boost their revenue stream.
