    Found and repaired cause of loss of power

    Callum promptly came when we had a loss of power, quickly found the fault and fixed it. He also gave us advice on some other electrical matters. He was friendly and courteous and patiently explained what he was doing. We would highly recommend him.

    Fitting new consumer units to replace old fuse boxes, installation of earth rod and gas meter earthed.

    Callum came round within 2 hours of the request to inspect the work required. I instantly felt he was the right man for the job, esp with his experience of working in old properties. He installed the new unit efficiently, but on running tests, discovered cross-wiring of lighting and sockets had occurred in the past. Locating the faulty junction boxes was problematic but Callum persevered cheerfully. He cleared up well and despite having had to spend longer on the job, didn't charge more than the quote. He was pleasant, helpful and respectful throughout. I can thoroughly recommend him.

    Replacing the fuse panel

    We had Callum come and fit a new fuse panel as ours was ancient. Very professional throughout. Easy to speak to (even once he realised I knew far less than I made out at first) and took the time to actually explain what was needed and why. Not only did he come when he said he would, did the job to a really high standard, cleared up everything and left the place tidier than when he arrived, but he also spoke to me about everything he was doing at the time. It was fascinating, I definitely learnt a few things!

    Outbuilding has been supplied with power

    Callum ran a supply from my cottage to outbuilding and fitted sockets, lights and heating in there. He arrived on time, he was awfully polite and well mannered and left the property looking cleaner than when he'd arrived. He also supported an excellent beard. Highly recommended

    Fault Finding Leading Into Consumer Unit Upgrade

    Called this company as our fuse board was tripping out. Callum from Avalon Electricals was quick to respond, turned up the same day, found the fault and fixed it. We then asked him for a quotation to upgrade our consumer unit which he sent the next day, we accepted and he was back the following week. His work is exceptionally good, and his customer service is excellent. Very tidy and the certificates look good too! No hesitation in recommending Callum and this company, a top tradesman!!

Hello, my name is Callum Child (Rewire Specialist) and I live in Burtle, near Glastonbury and Bridgwater, and I am Avalon Electricals.

I started my business in January 2019 after 8 years of full-time employment with a successful local electrical company called Wessex Electricals in Shaftesbury Dorset. I am a fully qualified NICEIC & Part P Electrician after completing a City&Guilds apprenticeship, during which I was successful in the National Sparks Apprentice of the Year Competition.

I have Testing and Inspecting Qualifications with lots of experience and regularly complete:


  • Full electrical rewires.
  • Electrical safety checks.
  • Electrical Installation Condition Reports EICR.
  • Replacement Fuseboards


I specialise in domestic house rewires. With my team behind me we can meet amazing timeframes and targets, meaning much less disruption and downtime for my customers and still delivering fantastic results. From preparing the house with furniture moving, sheeting and floor protection, to fully plastering everything back in, we love to do rewires! With many years’ experience performing electrical safety test and inspections on housing contracts, we aim to deliver here too. A full EICR electrical installation condition report is produced and sent to you soon after the testing is complete, with recommendations for improvements such as replacement fuseboards which we also specialise in. I take great pride in my work striving to do that bit extra to achieve a really high standard, alongside good health and safety. My customers are really important to me and I enjoy working for them.
