My Background -
When I left school I visited Leeds military careers office and started my pre-selection training to gain a place at the dreaded Lympstone Commando Training Centre to become a Royal Marines Commando.
By the age of 18 I had completed Royal Marines training, gained my Green Beret and passed for duty to my first unit, 40 Commando RM in Taunton, Somerset, from which base I completed various training exercise’s around the World including operational duties to Northern Ireland. I also picked up a bit of southern lingo which my friends and family pointed out straight away whilst back on leave.
From 40 Commando RM I was posted to 45 Commando RM in Arbroath, Scotland where i now started diluting my Yorkshire accent even more with a bit of Scottish lingo coming 'oot' with phrases such as 'wee man' or 'howsitgaun'. Again travelling extensively around the World including the colder climates of our planet, Norway especially due to 45 Commando RM being Britain’s cold weather warfare specialists. This led to more operational duties which included Northern Ireland and multiple tours of Afghanistan.
Whilst serving in the Royal Marines I qualified as an Electrical/Mechanical Engineer as i like to know how things work and it would give me something to fall back on in the future years. On leaving the Marines I worked in the oil industry for a year before deciding it was a lonely place and i had spent too much time away from home and I would like a career closer to Leeds and my family. This led me into a bit of a panic thinking what i could turn my hand to and i really liked the idea of self-employment. I decided to take the plunge and start up my own business as a local locksmith and i don't think i could of picked a more competitive industry to break into (excuse the pun) especially in Leeds.
Neil Byrne Locksmith's is now 6 years old and i have built up a good customer base with a good level of repeat business, I am down to earth, I treat people fairly the same as i would like to be treated myself and i keep my prices competitive while carrying out the work to the highest levels i can possibly achieve as i want your repeat business in the future to keep me operating.
I also like cups of tea, especially Yorkshire tea nice and strong and never with red top milk.
Thanks for reading.
