  • Damp issue investigation

    Eddie came to look at a damp issue at my house. From the initial contact he was friendly and flexible around days and times to arrange the visit. During the visit he did a thorough investigation to try to find out what was happening. It turned out not to be a damp issue but Eddie gave sound honest advice, directing me on how to resolve the issue. I will certainly recommend Eddie if you have any damp issues.

    Performed a damp survey after a complaint by tenant about mould. Created an excellent report identifing the root cause and suggestions on how to improve the situation. Report allows me to resolve the actual issue, rather than wasting time and money doing the wrong thing. Did job at short notice, and quickly. Has my recomendation if someting similar happens in the future.

    I was quoted a small fortune for unnecessary / incorrect work by crooks but Ed spent the time to find the real problem and execute an affordable solution. He kept me informed throughout the entire process and was always available to answer any questions I had. He also recommended reliable tradesman for other works required to complete the job, and to a great standard too. Ed knows his stuff, he's doesn't want to rip you off and he is a pleasure to have in your home, we had a good laugh.

Hi, my name is Eddie and I've been a plasterer for over 35 yrs, having been taught in Ireland by my father, a master plasterer with over 50yrs experience.


I've just re-joined Checkatrade after taking time off while waiting for a hip replacement.

I initially joined Checkatrade in 2019 but almost immediately had to give up work for health reasons, hence my lack of reviews, although you can find more online by googling Eddie Wrynn Plastering and Damp Proofing.


I am a Certified British Gypsum plasterer and spent 3 years working for them as an assessor, checking and mediating on the work standards of other plasterers throughout the UK.

This is what made me realise the amount of substandard work taking place.

The amount of SCAM RISING DAMP jobs I had to mediate on was SHOCKING.

In the VAST MAJORITY of cases, no chemical Damp course injection is needed. Unscrupulous contractors are conning people in to have a DPC injected where it isn't necessary.


If you get a "diagnosis" of rising damp, please call me, I can almost certainly guarantee you the damp is caused by something else.


However if you do insist, which we do NOT generally recommend, on a new DPC being injected, we can carry this out using the Dryzone from Safeguard method.


We cover ALL aspects of dampness and damp investigations including

Thermal imaging using an IR camera to pinpoint cold spots.
