  • Supply and fitting of MDF shelves

    We asked for some MDF shelves to be fitted either side of a chimney breast. Carpenter turned up at 7.55 am instead of 9.00am I asked if the shelves could be removable so I could paint them and he said ok. When finished the shelves didn't fit very well, (no attempt to adjust for the different angles) and he used large quantities of filler (3 x tubes) to make good so I couldn't then remove them. There were nails protruding, chunks out of the shelves where the saw blade had jumped and no attempt to sand them Very disappointing to say the least Didn't even bring back down the stairs he borrowed

    Quote given then ignored. Huge hike in costs for smaller job than quoted despite being told before job started this was too expensive. Refusal to communicate with client effectively. Inappropriate materials delivered. No Plans for carpenter when he arrived. Unsafe design offered. Audible disagreement between tradesmen on site. Mismanagement of staff meant project overran. No itemised invoice on letterheaded paper. Ongoing harassment since job completion around payment from multiple numbers. Has been referred to Trading Standards.

    Thank you to Harry for doing a fantastic job on removing a ghastly alcove fitting the previous owners left behind. He cleaned up after and even offered to vacuum. Courteous all the way and no damage to our walls left behind. Even gave advice on how to fix our skirting board that has blown due to water damage, and what type of products to use when repainting our ceiling and covering some small cracks.
