    "Don't talk of day rate", says Ivan as he delivers his eye-wateringly expensive invoice, "I had to get my tiling qualification and have years of experience. What you're paying for is the end result" Whilst the end result is excellent, you might be dubious about this enterprising approach to pricing. He told me he pays his tilers mate £270pd. Some quick maths reveals Ivan's effective day rate is in excess of £420pd. As we reach the completion of our single story extension, I can confirm that Ivan is the most expensive trades person that we've had on site by quite an impressive margin.
